Asia represents nearly half of global mobile subscribers and broadband markets due to its large population and internet users. Mobile markets in Asia saw strong growth over the past decade, reaching 2.9 billion subscribers by 2011. While growth has slowed somewhat in recent years, regional mobile penetration was estimated at 76% by mid-2012, with over 18 countries exceeding 100% penetration and two over 200%. The top 10 Asian countries for internet use are China with 538 million users, India with 137 million, and Japan with 101 million.
