Thunderstorms are storms produced by cumulonimbus clouds that contain lightning and thunder. They most commonly occur in the southeastern and midwestern United States between March and June. Thunderstorms can cause dangerous flooding, winds, hail, and lightning. It is important to prepare a disaster kit and seek shelter indoors during storms to stay safe from potential damages and loss of life.

• A thunderstorm is a storm with lightning

rain and sometimes hail

• The basic ingredients used to make a
thunderstorm are moister, and stable air
and lift
• You need moister to form clouds and rain
• You need unstable air that is relatively
warm and can rise rapidly
• This can form from fronts sea breezes or
mountains

• Severe weather may cause people to lose their
houses, family’s and possibly there own life
• Over 1,800 people die and lose their family’s
because of severe weather
