This document discusses the scope and features of Kent's Repertory. It notes that Kent's Repertory uniquely covers rubrics pertaining to mental generals, physical generals, and particulars. It also emphasizes that the repertory organizes rubrics from general to particular according to characteristics like location, sensation, modalities, and concomitants. Finally, it states that Kent's Repertory is useful for repertorization and prescribing for acute diseases due to its comprehensive coverage of anatomical parts.
This document provides an overview of Dr. J.T. Kent's "Repertory of the Homoeopathic Materia Medica". It discusses the contents and editions of the book, sources Kent drew from, his philosophical approach, and construction of the repertory. Key points include that the repertory was first published in 1897 and introduced a more systematic and readable format than predecessors. It became the popular choice and established the modern era of homeopathic repertories. The document also examines Kent's background and influence on homeopathic philosophy.
Repertorisation & different method of homoeopathic repertorisationDrShuchitachattree
This document discusses different methods of homoeopathic repertorisation. It defines repertorisation as the art of proper symptom elicitation, evaluation, categorization and classification to determine the most similar remedy. The two main methods described are the aggregation method, where all symptoms are listed and remedies scored, and the elimination method, where symptoms are arranged hierarchically to eliminate remedies. Specific techniques like single step elimination, cascading elimination, and the Kentian and Hahnemannian methods are also outlined.
Constantine Lippe's repertory was an early foundational work that influenced Kent's repertory. It followed Hahnemann's schema of generals to particulars. While not entirely uniform, it arranged symptoms alphabetically within categories of location, sensation, sides, extension/radiation and modality. This pioneering repertory established guidelines for systematic repertorization despite some inconsistencies in construction between sections. It provided a base for the development of more advanced repertories like Kent's.
Boenninghausen’s therapeutic pocket book[btpb]vandana b e

The repertory lists remedies alphabetically without philosophy. It contains rubrics for parts of the body with related subrubrics and includes many rubrics not found in other repertories.
A SYNOPTIC KEY OF THE MATERIA MEDICA
Dr. Smita Brahmachari
Correct prescribing is the art of carefully fitting pathogenetic to clinical symptoms, and such at present requires a special aptness in grasping the essential points of symptom images, great drudgery, mastering a working knowledge of our large materia medica and a most skillful use of many books of reference. It is the aim of this book “A Synoptic Key of the Materia Medica” is to simplify and introduce method into this work, so that the truly homoeopathic curative remedy may be worked out with greater ease and certainty.
This document provides a summary and analysis of Boenninghausen's Therapeutic Pocket Book (BTPB). Homoeopathy considers pathology from a chronic disease perspective. Hahnemann developed the concepts of miasms and latency to explain chronic diseases. He associated psora with many chronic skin and internal diseases. Hahnemann was ahead of his time in recognizing infectious diseases as caused by microscopic organisms and parasites. He viewed disease as a dynamic disturbance caused by morbific agents internal or external to the body, and treatment as removing these agents' effects through antidotes that cause similar symptoms. Hahnemann's theories of the underlying causes and mechanisms of chronic diseases have been largely validated by modern science.

Simple Square Foot Gardening for Schools - Teacher Guide
http://scribd.com/doc/239851110
The document discusses the classification of organisms into a scientific hierarchy and how biologists determine evolutionary relationships. It describes Carl Linnaeus' development of binomial nomenclature, the modern scientific classification system with eight levels from domain to species. Biologists use shared characteristics to classify organisms, like the honeybee which is classified into the categories of Eukarya down to Apis mellifera.
The document discusses the classification of organisms into a scientific system developed by Carl Linnaeus. It describes the seven levels of biological classification, from domain to species. Organisms are classified based on shared characteristics and can be identified by their genus and specific epithet in their scientific name. The modern system and an example classification of the honeybee are provided.
The document provides guidance on conducting an effective search of the CINAHL database to answer a question about factors that influence control of postoperative pain in older patients. It outlines a 3-stage process: developing a search strategy using relevant concepts and keywords; searching databases using subject headings and keywords; and finding full text. Sample searches are demonstrated combining subject headings like "pain measurement" with keywords like "pain management" or "pain assessment". Tips are provided on using subject headings, keywords, wildcards and Boolean operators. The document stresses combining subject and keyword searches and limiting searches by date, age and other filters. It suggests practicing searches on topics like symptom distress, palliative care and cancer pain to refine skills.

Symbolic Interactionism, Functional Analysis, And Conflict...Divya Watson
This document discusses three main sociological theories: symbolic interactionism, functional analysis, and conflict theory. It argues that symbolic interactionism best explains modern society due to its focus on the meanings and symbols people use. It notes some limitations of functionalism and conflict theory. It also discusses how symbols can change over time and impact societal views. Functional analysis is then applied to analyze how churches function as social institutions and the consequences when their parts do not work together effectively.
This document provides an overview of information resources for conducting research. It discusses developing a focused research question, identifying relevant terms and databases to search, evaluating search results, and tools for managing citations. Key databases recommended for answering public health and ethnic minority questions include Medline, Embase, and CINAHL. The document emphasizes refining searches and stresses that librarians can help at all stages of the research process.
This tutorial demonstrates how to search for subject headings in CINAHL and MeSH (Medical Subject Headings) databases. It shows how to find relevant subject terms for search terms like "catheter infections", add subject headings and subheadings to the search query, and explode subject terms to include narrower related topics in the search results. The tutorial search combines "Catheter-Related Infections" with related subheadings and "Urinary Tract Infections" exploded to also include "Bacteriuria", returning a list of results.
The document provides instructions for searching the CINAHL database to find nursing articles. It describes how to perform basic and advanced searches, use subject headings to find more relevant results, and limit searches by publication type, age group and other filters. It also explains how to view full text, save searches, request articles through interlibrary loan if full text is unavailable, and get help from a librarian.

explorer tree, can create our own view of repertory
by using ‘Preference’ tab, can exclude additions from
certain authors.
Repertorization :
1, Open the repertory.
2, Select appropriate chapter for rubrics.
12. Easiest way to find rubrics :
Simply type few letters on the keyboard, e.g., Ai
(for ailments).
As the letters are typed, a ‘search screen’ opens.
Along with the very ‘first rubric’, that contain the
letters typed in to the first word position in main
screen in background.
If it isn’t the rubric we want to use?
ISIS needs to be told to find another rubric for
consideration, by clicking on the ‘next rubric symbol’,
in search screen.
We can further refine the rubric by typing similarly
13. few letters for sub-rubrics.
The first letter type in must be contained in the
very first word of a rubric.
Letters or words type in the second through fifth
positions can appear any where in the rest of the
rubric text.
After selecting the rubric, put the selected rubric
in to clip board by double clicking on the rubric or by
dragging it in to clip board or by copying it to the clip
board.
A bright red tick is displayed next to the rubrics in
the repertory confirming it has been included in the
case.
14. Word searching in repertories :
When not sure about the chapters for the rubrics,
use word search facility.
‘Search’ icon, F7, ?, key and SHIFT key at the same
time.
It searches every repertory, every chapter and
every rubric simultaneously.
It also finds all words related to words type in, i.e.,
synonyms too, e.g., if typing alone, automatically find
words like, abandoned, forsaken, lost, estranged, etc.
Thematic searching : By using the same provision,
incorporated as a set of theme words provided by
Dr.J.S.Mirilli, compiled by examining major proving
15. sources, Hahnemann, Allen, Hering, and distilling
down the prover’s expressions in to themes, each
theme word has then been associated with repertory
rubrics.
Only works with Miccant’s combined repertory :
Rubrics can be searched by kingdom or family too,
integrated method can also be used if the rubric is
not clear in one repertory, to get well represented
rubrics.
Repertorial result format :
A classic totality analysis is performed.
The default format – classical repertorization chart
16. Case rubrics – down the left side.
Indicated remedy – across the top.
Coloured grade cells underneath each remedy
clearly show in which rubrics a remedy is present in
and which it isn’t.
Analysis setting window : Clearly visible at the top
left corner of the repertorization chart, with 4
parameters.
1, Analysis. 2, Order.
3, Filter. 4, Presentation.
Analysis : Gives different methods of analyzing a
case, contains an ‘expert system’, to provide an
17. experienced opinion on every cases.
Which is simply an analytical method of viewing
cases using settings proven over the years to give
excellent results.
We can change the values used in the ISIS expert
system, repertorization, analysis.
Order : We can chose repertorial results in different
order, i.e., according to rubric total or grade total or
alphabetical order or rubrics & alphabetical, etc.
Filter : Can filter the current totality using –
1, Kingdoms – like animals, plants, mineral or
other energies.
18. 2, Families : Which shows well represented family in
the case.
3, Periodic table – introduced by Dr.Jan Scholten.
In which there are a commonly held set of factors
and themes that may guide us towards choosing a
mineral remedy.
4, Miasm : Filtering according to classic miasms.
5, Miasmatic states : Introducing the miasmatic
definition of Rajan Sankaran.
They added 7 more miasmatic definitions like –
1, Cancer. 2, Leprosy.
3, Ringworm 4, Typhoid.
19. 5, Malarial. 6, Acute.
7, Tubercular.
6, Generals : With contribution of Dr. Praful Vijayerker.
1, Cold and hot remedies.
2, Thirst and thirstlessness.
3, Left side right side remedies.
These all 6 filters are Essentially helpful in selecting
a second prescription.
Presentation : In 4 formats like –
1, Chats. 2, Cylinders.
3, Columns 4, Bars.
20. Families & kingdoms : Entire repertorial results can
be represented according to families and kingdoms
in, graphically or diagrammatically here.
Differentiating between indicated remedies : To get
information quickly about the medicines we need to
choose, start by clicking the right mouse button on to
any of the remedies which will provide.
Options like :
Remedy information – give keynotes, relationships,
and possibly audio lectures about the remedy.
Materia medica – Will open up every book in the
ISIS library that has an entry for this remedy.
21. Family members – Will display it’s associated
kingdoms and families.
Comparing remedies : Another technique that may
prove useful is to compare and contrast a few
indicated remedies by examining their differences in
the repertory by extracting their rubrics from
repertory.
Saving the case rubrics : There are provisions for
saving the rubrics of the case and cases itself which
helps for further follow ups.
Others : Sankaran’s insights , provides vital sensation
of different plant families and remedies with in them
and miasmatic states as two lists.
22. 1, A list of states. 2, A list of plant families.
Which displays the essential ‘feeling’ associated
with that states or family.
Materia medica : A collection of 145 books, on
materia medica and few philosophy books.
Last name of the author – first, followed by book’s
name, arranged alphabetically by the author’s last
name.
Included many contemporary authors, i.e.,
Vermeulen, Scholten, Sankaran, etc.
We can search symptoms, how they represented
under each in different materia medica.
23. After any materia medica search we can easily see
which families occurs most frequently, e.g., after a
search for anger across all materia medicas, we can
see a family graph on it.
We can change order of materia medicas in the
explorer tree, can exclude any materia medica from
search.
My notes : Where we can add our notes under
sections like –
1, seminar notes. 2, Teaching notes.
3, Periodicals. 4, Remedies notes.
5, Add other books too.
24. Remedy information :
Each remedy is presented with four quarters.
Top left – Naming AND categorization of the
remedy.
Bottom left – Any keynotes available for the
remedy.
Top right – Any relationships recorded for the
remedy.
Bottom right – Any images, audio lectures or
videos available for the remedy.
Listen to over 120 lectures on remedy and view
over 400 photographs of remedies.
25. We can add our own images, audios or even
video files for any remedy with in ISIS to build up our
own Homoeopathic resources.
Dictionary : Information about terms and rubrics
from international dictionaries and other books.
Tabers cyclopedic medical dictionary – 1981.
Craig’s dictionary London – 1852.
Webster’s American dictionary – 1892.
Concise English dictionary – 1906.
Bbstetrics Glossary Philadelphia – 1886.
Ruddock, Homoeopathic vade Mecum – 1893.
Allen, diseases of the skin – 1897.
26. Morris Langmead and Holmes, dictionary of
practical medicine.
Arranged alphabetically.
Other provisions :
Patient : Where we can store our case data,
prescription, follow ups systematically.
Acutes : Dr.Praful Vijayarker’s acute chart
remedies are provided and repertorization can be
possible with it.
Homoeopathic discussion forum : ISIS has links to
online Homoeopathic web resources, where we can
27. freely ask questions and receive answers via the
online discussion groups as an ISIS quest.
