ThingsCon is a global movement started in 2014 with two conferences that aims to foster the creation of a human-centric and responsible Internet of Things. It provides an open environment for IoT practitioners to reflect and take collaborative action through various opportunities like labs, advocacy, research, and publications.

Kubernetes has clearly emerged as the mind share leader in the race for container orchestration. Now, what will this new world, which has embraced Kubernetes look like in a few years? Technologies like this automate and commoditize away whole industries at once. For instance, when the cloud took off - The IT infrastructure procurement, engineering and associated roles disappeared. The flip side was that it was easier to start companies, and go to market by relying on the cloud. Another fundamental shift happened when the iPhone came about - the non-smart phone market disappeared. The flip side was that a new industry of apps emerged. As a technical leader, this talk will share my vision of what this new world will look like, how to get there, what role open source will play in this, and how an enterprise of today can prepare for the new world to maximize the benefits from it. To cope with dynamic environments, Internet of Things (IoT) applications are expected to autonomously discover and interact with services at runtime in pursuit of design or user-specified goals. On the one hand, various paradigms and technologies are available to program goal-driven autonomous software agents, and on the other hand hypermedia-driven environments are central to the development of robust machine-to-machine applications. However, existing approaches for the development of hypermedia-driven environments fall short of meeting the needs of autonomous agents: they either severely restrict the agents’ autonomy, or their topological structure is either fragmented or inefficient to navigate at scale. In this paper, we explore the use of socio-technical networks, that is networks of people and things interrelated in a meaningful manner via typed relations, as an overlay for enhancing hypermedia-driven interaction in IoT environments. We present a proof of concept and discuss several classes of applications in which this model could prove useful.

After an introduction to the Collaborative Economy and its relation to the term "Sharing Economy", the presentation shows reasons for its rapid growth: Businesses as platforms. What are the elements of a platform? Why does it allow for rapid growth and value creation? Taking this as a basis, we translated the concept to the organizational level using OuiShare as an example.
