ABA is not just an intervention for children with ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder). Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA therapy) is a generic term for a widely used scientific method of behavior modification. It is based on the principle that influencing a response associated with a particular behavior may cause that behavior to be modified and controlled. ABA is the science of Applied Behavior Analysis. In other words, it can simply be defined as a scientific approach to observing, evaluating, and developing a plan to address undesired behaviors. It takes into consideration, the understanding of events and the role of environment just before and right after behaviors occur, which can give parents, guardians and other caretakers the information they require to begin shaping a child's behavior.
What Is ABA Therapy? It is a therapy based on the science of learning and behavior that how behavior works, how it’s being affected by the surrounding environmental factors, and how all the learning process takes place. It all goes through your behavioural health assessment.
Wyman Lee Multiple Child Cases in the state of CaliforniaPurdue Global

Original Restraining Order Monterey Superior CourtPurdue Global
We were at the courthouse from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM filling out the restraining order. My children and I were staying in hotels. I called women's shelters in hopes of finding a place to stay. They put us on a wait list. I was told it would only take 48 hours for my spouse to be served so that we could go back to our home. He was not served, and he cut off all of my credit cards and filed fraud on my personal credit card payment so that the payments were reversed. To this day I'm in debt because he continues to file fraud charges on me when I use our joint cards and the charges are reverted back to me. Then he makes sure that only he receives a cc on our joint account. The financial abuse is never ending.

Domestic violence is a pattern of abusive behavior used to gain or maintain p...Purdue Global
In many situations, if abuse can not be seen on the outside, it's ignored, considered a lie, made up, or even a psychosis of some sort. People ignore the abuse that causes damage on the inside. Which sadly ends up hurting more than the wounds you can see on the outside. Many become substance abuse users and, even worse, commit suicide. Emotional damage is much more challenging to see and treat, yet it gets the least attention. Victims get ignored and even made to feel worse by the victim-blaming mentality of the patriarch. "Oh, she's suffering from menopause, or mental illness runs in her family." The sad thing is that the majority of society believes this.
What you are about to read is my struggle, my story. My husband believed that if I were not bruised, beaten, or broken on the outside, it wasn't abuse. He thought he was a good father and a good man because he paid for everything. When I say everything, I mean everything and everyone. He had several other children with others within 27 years of marriage. But he was still a good person because he paid for his people.
For many years, I suffered in silence. I covered my pain in alcohol, and what I thought was "self-care" was me licking my wounds and putting on that fake smile and fake dressed-up kids to present to the world.
No one believed me when I finally became sick of it and wanted out. Not even the courts, not the law, not my momma, no one. I couldn't even get into a women's shelter. The judges gave me temporary restraining orders because my evidence was not substantial. I played such a good part in solidifying my husband's facade that no one believed, supported, acknowledged, or even cared.
The moral of the story. . . . don't pretend. Live the truth because, in the end, you're only hurting yourself on top of the hurt you've already experienced. You deserve better! I deserve better! That said, please read the signs, memorize the signs, and get help NOW. The sooner, the better.
Domestic violence is a pattern of abusive behavior used to gain or maintain power and control over another person in a relationship. It can take various forms, including:
Verbal Abuse: When someone intentionally says things to scare, degrade, or damage the person's self-worth. Examples include yelling, humiliating, name-calling, or threatening harm.
Verbal abuse is a form of emotional abuse in which a person uses words or threats to gain or maintain power and control over someone. Being on the receiving end of verbal abuse can cause a person to question their intelligence, value, or self-worth. It goes beyond normal disagreements and can manifest in various ways, including:
Name-calling: Whether in a romantic relationship, a parent-child relationship, or even on the playground, habitual name-calling is unhealthy. Sometimes, it's obvious, while other times, it's disguised as "pet names" or "teasing." Regardless, it's a method of belittling the other person.

The Greatest Story Ever Told: A Civil Rights Violation of a black woman and h...Purdue Global
In September, a woman who has lived with domestic violence for many years, finally leaves. Files for a DVRO, that's issued temporarily. The accuser obtains a lawyer to fight every accusation. The petitioner gives all the evidence that the judge asks for. The judge retires, the new judge says there's no substantial evidence. The Lawyer, Benjamin Lopatin asks for a continuation on the first three court hears. Now on the fourth hearing this is the evidence that's going to be presented. Full of dishonesty to create a loving marriage. My question is. Why would a woman leave a beautiful marriage as depicted in the response with evidence of love and caring? The evidence is moving, the husband sounds like a dream. Right out of Nicholes Sparks novel. I would have never left if that were the case.
Here is some of our True Story:
A plea for help from my local constituents and community:
Over the past ten years or so, I’ve had many setbacks. In 2014 my son was diagnosed with his first brain tumor, he was two years old. In 2016 he had a recurrence, in 2020, he had two more brain tumors return in the same tumor bed. Each time he had surgery and in 2020 went through seven weeks of Gamma Knife radiation treatment to the entire tumor bed. So far so good, we've had a little over two years of clean MRI brain scans.
During those years our lives were full of unbelievable support and joy within the community. Our home life, not so great. My husband became someone I did not recognize, his behavior and attitude towards me and our older children changed immensely.
Because he was our sole provider and only source for income, insurance and most all our assets are in his name alone. I was powerless to defend myself and my children at least, I thought I was.
Our community resource became my source of hope. I reached out to the social security office to look into getting SSI for my consistent care for my younger son, I went to the regional center to my disappointment, all of these entities turned me away. Although, Central Coast Alliance, Jacob’s Heart cancer support services, the kinship center (for my older adopted son) and our local NAACP members, gave us financial and emotional support for the years that we needed. I also started seeing a psychologist and joined several caregiver support groups in order to manage life in general.
Unfortunately, bad things became worse, my older son was being abused physically by his father and I did all I could to keep them apart, while keeping our family together. Eventually child protective services stepped in and wanted to take all three children. My mother stepped in and called the local PALM police to tell them that my older son was lying and told me that I need to keep family business to myself. The police sided with my mother, and I feared that my children would be taken away from me so I went along with the lie and my older son agreed by saying that he would tough it out so that we would not be separated.

Self Care for the Mind, Body & Soul
I remember waking up to a bird that would tap its beak on the side of my window, the little bird would tap and tap, as I lay there with my eyes closed I could hear singing, a little birdy song while all else was silent, clear and refreshing. The warm sun on my face and the clean country Michigan air blowing through my window.
Those were my summer mornings waking up as a teenager in southeast Michigan, I would wake up before anyone else and make myself a cup of coffee. Drink quietly as I listened to absolutely nothing. I would breathe in the sunlight, watching the laundry blowing on the clothesline in our backyard.
In some cultures mornings are sacred. They are a time of renewal because it’s the start of a new day and anything is possible. Waking up first gave me a chance to gather my thoughts and create my idea of the ideal day. I gain great inspiration from knowing just what kind of day I wanted to have and not the kind of day I thought I would. It’s empowering when you begin your day with an intention. Think about what you want, visualize it, see yourself moving through those moments.
“Love yourself as you would want to be loved.”
Don’t you dislike when someone forgets or ignores you? So why would you forget or ignore yourself?
When the stewardess in the airplane goes over the emergency instructions and tells you to put the breathing mask over your face before helping the passenger next to you. This should be your metaphor for life. Address your needs first before you help others. This just simply means that you can’t help someone else if you don’t help yourself first. Imagine you are struggling to breathe yet, you are trying to save someone else but you can’t and you pass out. You both are in danger of losing your lives. I know it may sound a little extreme but it’s not that far off from reality. Many mothers die or become very ill at a young age because they gave everything they had, mentally, and physically to their family and neglected themselves.
Give yourself permission to be quiet. Take a bubble bath, read a book, get a massage, go for a long walk, take a class, enjoy a few small moments and just be with you. Get lost in your own thoughts for a short while without the outside world intruding.
It’s important to decide that you are worth taking care of. Love Yourself!

Growth Mindset
“The Future of Black America.”
August 2020
OVERVIEW
It’s time to create human rights policies that recognize the dignity and worth of all black
Americans to provide greater opportunities and rights without discrimination. The goal would be
to make into law that there's no discrimination in specific social areas no discrimination based on
the color of skin, culture or creed, and other grounds. Such as; race, ancestry, place of origin,
ethnic origin, citizenship, creed, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity and expression, age,
marital status, family status, disabilities, and recipients of public assistance and free gender
expression.
The criminal justice system and law enforcement have racially profiled, arrested, and prosecuted
Black Americans way too harshly and without repercussions. This stops now, by making and
implementing laws that protect and improve the black community once and for all.
GOALS
1. Improve the lives of Black Americans through inclusion in all aspects that have excluded
us in the past such as equal and sufficient healthcare, and executive jobs that pay the
same as our white peers. Free education, programs that give black Americans the
opportunity to own a home.
2. No racial profiling by those in authority, massive police reform a call for federal legislation
mandating a “zero-tolerance approach in penalizing and/or prosecuting police officers
who kill unarmed, non-violent, and non-resisting individuals in an arrest.”
3. Police reform needs to consist of more education. Teachers have more education than
police officers and they do not carry a gun or deal with life-or-death situations on a daily
basis. Police officers need to be required to hold a Bachelor's degree as well as police
academy training. A curriculum that consists of cultural sensitivity, diversity as well as
psychology focused.
History
The Segregation Era (1900–1939) - The Civil Rights Act of 1964
The goals were the abolition of segregation, discrimination, disenfranchisement, and racial
violence, particularly lynching.
As you can see 2020 shows a new kind of lynching in police killings of black Americans.
The civil rights act of 1964 did not create lasting success, it needs to be reconstructed to a
prevalent level. Combining civil and human rights into policy will help to facilitate change that is
all-encompassing.
Conclusion
I believe that a civil war is on the horizon and we need to create change now before it’s too late.
We may end up in a place that feels stagnant if we don’t take the necessary steps to protect and
improve the lives of black Americans. It’s important to make changes that are lasting, promote,
and protect future generations of black lives.

What does it mean to start your day healthy? The truth is, there’s no one-size-fits-all answer—the meaning is highly personal, depending on you and your situation. For some, it’s being motivated to hit the gym every morning at 6:00. For others, it’s waking up feeling refreshed after a good night’s sleep. For others still, it’s feeling optimistic about what lies ahead or looking forward to a nutritious breakfast.
No matter what, though, for every one of us, a new day is a new opportunity to thrive.
Start Healthy magazine embraces this mindset wholeheartedly. We want to help you start making positive changes so you can feel healthier and live your life to the fullest—whether you’re young or young at heart. Within the pages of this magazine, you’ll find thought-provoking articles—with topics ranging from wellness to fitness to food—that are perfect for your interests, tastes, and lifestyle.
Our mission is to inspire you to think more proactively about your health so you can enjoy a more active, enriching life.

CHAPTER 1 SEMESTER V - ROLE OF PEADIATRIC NURSE.pdfSachin Sharma
Pediatric nurses play a vital role in the health and well-being of children. Their responsibilities are wide-ranging, and their objectives can be categorized into several key areas:
1. Direct Patient Care:
Objective: Provide comprehensive and compassionate care to infants, children, and adolescents in various healthcare settings (hospitals, clinics, etc.).
This includes tasks like:
Monitoring vital signs and physical condition.
Administering medications and treatments.
Performing procedures as directed by doctors.
Assisting with daily living activities (bathing, feeding).
Providing emotional support and pain management.
2. Health Promotion and Education:
Objective: Promote healthy behaviors and educate children, families, and communities about preventive healthcare.
This includes tasks like:
Administering vaccinations.
Providing education on nutrition, hygiene, and development.
Offering breastfeeding and childbirth support.
Counseling families on safety and injury prevention.
3. Collaboration and Advocacy:
Objective: Collaborate effectively with doctors, social workers, therapists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated care for children.
Objective: Advocate for the rights and best interests of their patients, especially when children cannot speak for themselves.
This includes tasks like:
Communicating effectively with healthcare teams.
Identifying and addressing potential risks to child welfare.
Educating families about their child's condition and treatment options.
4. Professional Development and Research:
Objective: Stay up-to-date on the latest advancements in pediatric healthcare through continuing education and research.
Objective: Contribute to improving the quality of care for children by participating in research initiatives.
This includes tasks like:
Attending workshops and conferences on pediatric nursing.
Participating in clinical trials related to child health.
Implementing evidence-based practices into their daily routines.
By fulfilling these objectives, pediatric nurses play a crucial role in ensuring the optimal health and well-being of children throughout all stages of their development.
Defecation
Normal defecation begins with movement in the left colon, moving stool toward the anus. When stool reaches the rectum, the distention causes relaxation of the internal sphincter and an awareness of the need to defecate. At the time of defecation, the external sphincter relaxes, and abdominal muscles contract, increasing intrarectal pressure and forcing the stool out
The Valsalva maneuver exerts pressure to expel faeces through a voluntary contraction of the abdominal muscles while maintaining forced expiration against a closed airway. Patients with cardiovascular disease, glaucoma, increased intracranial pressure, or a new surgical wound are at greater risk for cardiac dysrhythmias and elevated blood pressure with the Valsalva maneuver and need to avoid straining to pass the stool.
Normal defecation is painless, resulting in passage of soft, formed stool
CONSTIPATION
Constipation is a symptom, not a disease. Improper diet, reduced fluid intake, lack of exercise, and certain medications can cause constipation. For example, patients receiving opiates for pain after surgery often require a stool softener or laxative to prevent constipation. The signs of constipation include infrequent bowel movements (less than every 3 days), difficulty passing stools, excessive straining, inability to defecate at will, and hard feaces
IMPACTION
Fecal impaction results from unrelieved constipation. It is a collection of hardened feces wedged in the rectum that a person cannot expel. In cases of severe impaction the mass extends up into the sigmoid colon.
DIARRHEA
Diarrhea is an increase in the number of stools and the passage of liquid, unformed feces. It is associated with disorders affecting digestion, absorption, and secretion in the GI tract. Intestinal contents pass through the small and large intestine too quickly to allow for the usual absorption of fluid and nutrients. Irritation within the colon results in increased mucus secretion. As a result, feces become watery, and the patient is unable to control the urge to defecate. Normally an anal bag is safe and effective in long-term treatment of patients with fecal incontinence at home, in hospice, or in the hospital. Fecal incontinence is expensive and a potentially dangerous condition in terms of contamination and risk of skin ulceration
HEMORRHOIDS
Hemorrhoids are dilated, engorged veins in the lining of the rectum. They are either external or internal.
FLATULENCE
As gas accumulates in the lumen of the intestines, the bowel wall stretches and distends (flatulence). It is a common cause of abdominal fullness, pain, and cramping. Normally intestinal gas escapes through the mouth (belching) or the anus (passing of flatus)
FECAL INCONTINENCE
Fecal incontinence is the inability to control passage of feces and gas from the anus. Incontinence harms a patient’s body image

There’s help for ADHD!
How Applied Behavioral Analysis can help ADD and ADHD.
by Victoria Lee on October 12, 2017
There are three types of ADHD:
● Combined – This is the most commonly diagnosed type; ADD and ADHD, it
combines both the attention deficit and hyperactivity elements of various
disorders
● Inattention – Attention span that is very short compared to others in their
age group. Being easily distracted and having the inability to pay attention to
just about anything.
● Hyperactivity - Unable to sit still, may need to stand or run often.
2. ● Impulsivity – Jumping out of seat, talking out of turn, inappropriate behavior
without cause.
Treatment
Common Operant Conditioning
Choosing the appropriate reinforcement for behaviors – Positive reinforcement is
offered for desired behaviors while No reaction or negative reinforcement is given
when NON- desired behaviors are expressed.
● Discrete Trial Training – Breaking down complex behaviors into individual
steps, which are separated and placed in sequence, then positively or
negatively reinforced to build up into the desired behavior.
● Self-regulation – Works well with adults and older teens, with this clients
learn self-awareness and various physical mental and physiological abilities,
including but not limited to self-praise, that can help with the self-
management of behaviors that are problematic.
Success with the amount of reinforcement is important for ADHD clients, on
average, kids with ADHD have one or two negative interactions per minute with
parents or educators. Unfortunately most parents and teachers respond in a
negative way to disruptions based on their experience with children without ADHD.
3. This simply doesn’t work and is detrimental to the progress in resolving behavioral
issues related to ADHD.
A educated and trained ABA, behavioral therapist has the ability to analyze the level
of positive and negative reinforcement a client needs and to help guide how and
when teachers and parents respond in order to create the desired results.
