YouthForce is the premier workforce development program
of the  Boys & Girls Clubs of King County  that connects
innovative businesses with talented youth who can help
move the business forward.
PwC, Boeing, Expedia
Over the past two months, we have partnered with some amazing companies in the community to
provide incredible opportunities for teens. We are extremely grateful for our partnerships with
PwC, Boeing, and Expedia, and we truly appreciate your efforts to support the youth in our
community!
We partnered with PwC to host #CareerREADY, a career event for male interns. We visited PwC’s
Seattle office, where our interns participated in informational interviews and learned how to
develop their personal brand using LinkedIn.
We partnered with Boeing Women In Leadership to provide a career event for female interns and
BGCKC members. Teens benefitted from mentorship, learned how to develop their personal
brand, create elevator pitches, write resumes, and participated in informational interviews.
YouthForce also had the exciting opportunity to partner with Expedia for an informational interview
session, starting with a keynote speaker and followed by learning about the many different career
paths within Expedia. With over 15 volunteers, Interns had the opportunity to practice their
interview skills, as well as participate in a networking dinner. Expedia volunteers chose the "best
dressed", "best introduction", and "most professional". Interns received awards, as well as
Expedia goodie bags! Thank you to all "Expedians", who participated in this wonderful event!
Welcome, Nick Adams
Nick Adams is one of two Area Directors at BGCKC.  In addition to overseeing five clubs, he now
also oversees YouthForce. We are excited that he's now part of our team.
Where did you go to school? I attended Bishop Blanchet High School. For college, I graduated
from UW with a degree in American Ethnic Studies, emphasis on African American History.
What was your first job?  At age 15, I was a Beach Attendant/Life Guard in Training at East
Green Lake Beach, which mainly consisted of cleaning the beach and sweeping the dock of all of
the goose mess while I learned to become a life guard.
Tell us a little bit about your history working with youth... I’ve been working with youth and
families for 28 years. I fell in love with working with kids early and began volunteering for Seattle
Parks and Rec while in high school.  I have taught life skills at Fairview HS and elementary in
North Seattle, worked as a Family Support Worker, and run Community Learning Centers for both
the City of Seattle and the YMCA. Before joining the Boys and Girls Clubs, I worked with Seattle
Parks and Rec as their Non Profit Partner with the Associated Recreation Council.
Why are you excited to work with YouthForce? I’m excited to work with YouthForce because it
brings me full circle from where I began my career and allows me to enter arenas which were not
available 20 years ago. The passion, experience and drive of the staff leaves me in awe, and I
can’t wait to see what is to come.
What are your hobbies/what do you do when you're not working? I am a father of an 11 year
old son who is an athlete and musician, so my time is full.  We all practice Martial Arts because
we believe a family that kicks together, sticks together.  The discipline translates over to our
everyday lives and reminds us to be our best selves because someone is always watching our
example.
Care to share a fun fact about yourself? I’m the youngest of 12 children and in my family  we
could not get our driver’s license until we all became life guards!
We are so happy to welcome Nick to our team, and we cannot wait to see what 2017 has in store
for us!
Thank You
