2. WHY I HAVE CHOSEN IT
• The reason for me choosing this opening sequence is, iv watched the film before
and really enjoyed it and thought it would be fun to analyse it in more detail

3. MISE-EN-SCENE
• From the start of the opening sequence we hear voice over of Leonardo DiCaprio
as Jordan Belfort is then heard as he introduces himself and talks about his life
journey, the mise en scene used all expresses his wealth and personality. This is
shown as at the start he is wearing a suit and holding a margarita which shows
how he is a man who likes his wealth. We can see that he is doing well in life from
the mansion in which the main character is in. The audience also get this idea as
he is in a suit which shows that he is someone with quite a high amount of class.
Later on in the video we are also able to see that he has got his own office and as
he walks out of it the workers are clapping which shows that he I someone with
very high status.

4. CAMERAWORK
• They use camerawork very well to express the main characters power as for most
of the clip they use a tracking shot which shows the audience who the main focus
is and his entire wealth. The director also uses a pan on his limo; this is to express
his wealth and power.This adds effect to the clip as it’s as if he is flaunting his
wealth at the audience showing the type of character he could be. A close up Is
also used to show the drugs in which he is consuming, this is effective as it is
showing his lifestyle and what he uses. The director also uses a lot of close up on
the main characters face, this is used effectively to once again reinforce the idea
to the audience that the character is talking directly to the audience.

5. SOUND
• The background song at the beginning is very quiet however it is gradually gets
louder throughout the opening sequence and stops when he continues to voice
over what is happening. The sound is effectives throughout the opening
sequence as it gives the idea that the main character is explaining and showing is
detail everything which he has achieved. They use calm peaceful music in the
background while the main character commentates over the top. This works well
as it tells the audience that he always feels calm when he is talking to people who
could suggest why he is so successful in making money and becoming the wolf of
Wall Street.

6. EDITING
• The editing in the beginning of the opening sequence is effective as the main
character is dressed in a suit and looks extremely successful, it makes the
audience question how he has become so wealthy and by there not being many
cut scenes you are able to see his daily routine which is effective as it is almost
showing the audience in detail what is going on. The director also doesn’t display
the title sequence in the opening which suggests either that it is such a big film
that they don’t need to tell the audience what film it is or that they are trying not
to reveal that the main character builds his way up to the top. And showing what
he has achieved.

7. QUESTIONS
• How has he become so wealthy?
• Is everything he does legit?
• Why is there such a large enforcement on drug use?
• Is it showing the lifestyle of a stereotypical representation of a worker in Wall
Street?

8. WHAT WE CAN LEARN
• From the opening sequence of ‘The Wolf Of Wall Street’ we can learn that the
main character is clearly a wealthy man which is clearly goo at what he does as he
has achieved so much e.g Mansion,Cars and Drugs.
• The representation of the main character is shown as quite cocky as we can see
from when he walks out to see the other employees and they are clapping at him
and that he is clearly important and they appreciate the fact that he has clearly
achieved a vey high status in the business.
