1. You can see the gritty, urban setting- where the film is based.
2. The low angel of this shot shows that Will Smiths’ character is of a
higher status at that particular moment. Also it zooms into the
swear word and along with what the characters saying it gives an
idea of what life's actually like there.

4. Looking at the children inside, then the sigh shows how he feels
sympathy for them.
5. Establishing more of the area. We see he is isolated, as he is
walking alone and in CHINATOWN due to the obvious symbols
around the area.
6. The train passing and date, location fives us more information, he
is scruffy and once more alone.
7. Here we see him talking awkwardly to the man showing that he is
obviously quite an awkward person, quiet and not very
confrontational. This is also represented by the fact they are both
on different sides of the bench.
4. Mise en scene
8. The over the shoulder through the glass gives the idea
that the audience is acting like a ‘fly on the wall’ ‘through
the glass’. This could also show that this character is
feeling trapped and alone.
9. The busy bus- Not talking to anyone. Ignoring all
confrontation and all a bit awkward.
10. The character in his location, this shot shows that he
has been walking for a while, showing more of the
characters costume and an insight into his personality.
We can also see the homelessness giving the overall
impression that the area he lives in is not at all wealthy.
Just by the opening scene we can see this is not going to
be a comedy, or horror more like an intense, sad movie.

happy. Its mellow and simple alowing us
to concentrate mostly on the visual aspect
and what he is saying.
• Narration Emotional, Normal talking but
at a slow pace and nice / calming to listen
to.
