The violin is a small, wooden string instrument that is the highest-pitched instrument in its family. It has four strings tuned in perfect fifths and is usually played by drawing a bow across the strings. Violins are prominent in classical music and many folk genres like country and bluegrass. Antonio Stradivari was a famous Italian maker of violins and other string instruments in the 18th century, considered one of the finest luthiers.
