He was born in 1809 in Lincolnshire, England and came from a family of 12 children. He studied at Trinity College, Cambridge where he joined a secret society and befriended Arthur Hallam. Tennyson published his first collection of poems in 1830 which included some of his most famous works. The death of his friend Hallam in 1833 inspired Tennyson to write some of his masterpieces, including "In Memoriam A.H.H.", an elegy for Hallam that took Tennyson 17 years to complete. Life of Alfred tennyson
Alfred Tennyson was an English poet who served as Poet Laureate of the United Kingdom from 1850 until his death in 1892. He was born in 1809 in Lincolnshire, England and came from a family of 12 children. He studied at Trinity College, Cambridge where he joined a secret society and befriended Arthur Hallam. Tennyson published his first collection of poems in 1830 which included some of his most famous works. The death of his friend Hallam in 1833 inspired Tennyson to write some of his masterpieces, including "In Memoriam A.H.H.", an elegy for Hallam that took Tennyson 17 years to complete. Tennyson was appointed Poet Laureate in 1850 and remained one

Victorian and Romantic periods of english literature
The Victorian period formally begins in 1837 (the year Victoria became Queen) and ends in 1901 (the year of her death). As a matter of expediency, these dates are sometimes modified slightly. 1830 is usually considered the end of the Romantic period in Britain, and thus makes a convenient starting date for Victorianism. Similarly, since Queen Victoria’s death occurred so soon in the beginning of a new century, the end of the previous century provides a useful closing date for the period. The nature of Romanticism
As a term to cover the most distinctive writers who flourished in the last years of the 18th century and the first decades of the 19th, “Romantic” is indispensable but also a little misleading: there was no self-styled “Romantic movement” at the time, and the great writers of the period did not call themselves Romantics. Spenser as a non dramatic poet
Spenser was an influential English poet during the Elizabethan era. He is best known for his masterpiece, The Faerie Queene, an allegorical poem celebrating Queen Elizabeth I. Spenser had a humble upbringing but was educated at Merchant Taylors' School and Cambridge University. He held various government posts in Ireland which inspired settings and themes in his poetry. Though he finished only six books of his planned twelve-book Faerie Queene, it established him as one of the greatest English poets and innovated the Spenserian stanza form. Spenser also wrote several other important works including The Shepherd's Calendar and Amoretti before dying in poverty in London in 1599.
Biography
Charles Dickens was an English writer born in 1812 who wrote iconic novels like Oliver Twist and A Tale of Two Cities. He had a difficult childhood where he worked in a factory after his father went to debtors' prison. Despite facing adversity, Dickens went on to become one of the most popular and influential writers of the Victorian era through his realistic yet entertaining novels that critiqued social issues. He married Catherine Hogarth and had 10 children before his death in 1870 from a stroke at his home in Kent.
Walter savage landor
Walter Savage Landor was an English poet and writer best known for his series of dialogues titled "Imaginary Conversations" consisting of fictional discussions between historical figures published between 1824-1853. He had an unruly education and fought in the Peninsular War before inheriting property and moving to Wales and Italy, producing several works including the dialog "Pericles and Aspasia" about classical Athens. Landor lived in England and Italy over his career and was considered one of the great men of letters in Victorian Britain.
Romanticism period
- Romanticism was an artistic and intellectual movement that originated in the late 18th century and emphasized emotion, imagination, and individualism. It promoted nature, the importance of the imagination, and the use of emotion over scientific thought.
- Some of the major figures of the Romantic period included William Wordsworth, Samuel Taylor Coleridge, Lord Byron, Percy Bysshe Shelley, John Keats, and Walter Scott. Their famous works explored themes of nature, emotion, and the supernatural.
- Romanticism also influenced visual arts like paintings that focused on landscapes and emotions. Artists included John Constable and J.M.W. Turner in England and Caspar David Friedrich in Germany.
