Tony Stark and Justin Hammer meet at the Stark Expo to discuss a business deal, with Pepper Potts mediating. Tony mocks Justin's attempts to woo Pepper away from him. Their plan is for Tony to antagonize Justin while Pepper ignores him, hoping he'll give up trying to get the Iron Man suits. However, Pepper is called back to Stark Tower, ending the negotiations prematurely. Frustrated, Justin threatens to give up his pursuit of the suits if he doesn't get them by the end of the night.

The Stark Expo in New York City
The Stark Expo is a place for the display of technology,
a place that both Tony and Justin (to a lesser extent)
would be in his element.
It is a place full of competition to be the best, (vying for
attention)

5. Tony Stark(Major)
Tony Stark is a genius, rather like Lucentio’s scholarly
ways, making him fit to disguise himself as a teacher.
Tony has quite the way with women, something that would
lead Pepper to have a fondness for him, like Bianca’s
for Lucentio
Tony is a billionaire, rich just like Lucentio.

6. Justin Hammer(Major)
Destined from the beginning to fail in his endeavors.
(Hortensio failed to woo Bianca, Justin failed to create
anything of value)
Often brushed to the side, a major character but mostly
off to the side
Relies heavily on the actions of others (Petruchio
marrying Kate=Ivan Vanko taking out Tony)

7. Pepper Potts(Major)
Pepper Potts does as she is asked of, much like Bianca,
due to her job as an assistant to Tony Stark.
Pepper has a marked preference for Tony, just as
Bianca has a preference for Lucentio.
Pepper is a mostly obedient yet feisty woman, showing
traits like attitude, something Bianca definately has.

8. Happy Hogan(Minor)
Happy is a limo driver(a servant)
Takes orders and is constantly at someone else’s beck
and call.
He plays a very small role in his original work, just like the
servant part in this scene.

[Enter TONY, PEPPER and JUSTIN]
TONY: You try so hard, JUSTIN. Did you forget already what happened when
you tried to sweet talk Christine like this?
JUSTIN: But if you’d just leave me and Miss Potts alone for a while, so I could
sweet talk her at my leisure. I’m sure it’d be different.
PEPPER:[Aside] You call this sweet talk? You crow too like a craven for
sweet talk. [PEPPER smiles at her own joke.]

TONY:[Mockingly] Are you clever enough for that? Here, let me show you
how.
[TONY gestures towards PEPPER]
JUSTIN: That’s enough out of you, old man! I don’t want to hear anymore of
your insults!
TONY: Well that’s a shame for you then. An old Italian fox is not so kind.
[JUSTIN rolls his eyes and huffs]

11. Act III
SCENE I
Stark Expo
JUSTIN: I’m sure PEPPER would ditch you in a second for a young thing like
me, if you weren’t her boss.
[PEPPER rolls her eyes and mumbles to herself]
PEPPER: Hardly. [To JUSTIN] Why don’t you take a moment to collect your
thoughts, so we can finish with your proposed business deal.
[JUSTIN nods in agreement and walks off.]

SCENE I
Stark Expo
PEPPER[To TONY] What are you trying to do here, you know he wants the
suit! Do you have a plan to get rid of him?
TONY: We’ve been fulfilling my plan now. He’s going to try and woo you,
thinking that you could talk me into letting him have it, so I’m going to heckle
him and you’re going to ignore him. We’ll see how long it takes him to catch on.
PEPPER: TONY, no.
TONY: TONY yes.

SCENE I
Stark Expo
JUSTIN: I’m ready
PEPPER: Take another minute, please.
[Justin grumbles under his breath]
TONY:[Aside] I bet he’s not.
PEPPER[To Tony] I don’t trust this plan of yours.
TONY:[To Pepper] It’s a good plan, it’s working so far.

14. Act III
SCENE I
Stark Expo
PEPPER: Fine.
JUSTIN: So let’s talk negotiations. So I would like to take Stark Industries off
your hands, don’t worry none of your precious employees will fired or laid
off, and the lovely CEO won’t have to worry either. I’ll even find you a new
assistant if that will sweeten the deal.
PEPPER: This is your deal? It’s not that great, but I am not content to be a
bargaining chip, so leave me out of this.
[Enter Happy Hogan]

15. Act III
SCENE I
Stark Expo
HAPPY:[To PEPPER] Miss Potts, there is a problem at Stark Tower. Public
Relations needs you now.
PEPPER: Alright, goodbye Mr. Hammer and Mr. Stark. These negotiations must
be moved to a later date. [Exit PEPPER]
TONY: I’ve got no other reason to be here.[Exit TONY]
JUSTIN: If I don’t get my hands on those suits by the end of this night, I give
up! [JUSTIN throws his hands up in frustration and exits]
