Mantle
It is the rocky outer surface of the
Earth. It is mostly composed of
basalt and granite. The crust is
thinner under the oceans.
It is a rocky layer located under the
crust. It is composed mostly of silicates.
Convection currents carry heat from the
hot inner mantle to the cooler outer
mantle.
InnerCore
The solid iron - nickel center of the
Earth that is very hot and under
great pressure that prevents the
iron from melting.
OuterCore
It is the molten iron - nickel layer
hat surrounds the inner core. The
liquid metal of the outer core can
be easily deformed and malleable.
