Snakes are elongated, legless reptiles that swallow their prey whole due to their bifurcated lower jaws. There are four main types of snakes: cobras, mambas, and coral snakes; pythons and boas; and vipers and rattlesnakes. Snakes kill either through venom injected via fangs or by constriction using their powerful muscles to asphyxiate prey. Cobras have extremely dangerous venom and will spit and extend their hoods when threatened, while anacondas use constriction to kill large prey by biting and coiling until the prey asphyxiates.
