While the two agendas have by no means converged yet, in practice they have often been translated into a single headline objective: to increase the proportion of recipients of government social cash transfers who receive payment directly into a bank account. CGAP's research in Brazil, Colombia, Mexico and South Africa has shown that the number of people receiving G2P payments electronically via delivery into their bank accounts is increasing, making these systems more affordable for governments, convenient for recipients and potentially profitable for banks.
