The Rotary Club of Kampala is constructing a new outpatient health unit in Ngandu, Mukono District, Uganda. Construction began in August 2014 with an estimated completion date of July 2015. The project is estimated to cost 600 million Ugandan shillings, with the club raising 200 million so far, leaving a funding gap of 400 million. The unit will provide key health services to the community when completed.

3. BACKGROUND:
 The Rotary Club of Kampala is the oldest Rotary Club
in Uganda.
 Founded in May 1957, it meets at Grand Imperial
hotel.
 The club is a member of Rotary International, the
world’s largest humanitarian organization.

4. Background
 Rotary International has for the last 107 years been
dedicated to helping the world’s under privileged
people in the provision of:-
 Health,
 Education,
 Economic livelihoods;
 Promotion of Peace and World Understanding.

5. Background
 The Rotary Club of Kampala has carried out a wide
range of community service projects in various parts of
the country, notably:
 The Mwana mugimu project at Mulago Hospital.
 A power back-up system at Nsambya hospital
 An HIV/AIDS patients Rehabilitation Centre at
Lyantonde (salaama shield);
 Uganda Heart Institute and many other projects.

6. THE ROTARY HOSPITAL PROJECT
Rtn George Kasedde Mukasa;
donated the land.
 It all started over 10 years ago
when Rotarian George Kasedde
Mukasa donated 10 Acres of
Land in Mukono Municipal
Council for the Club to
implement a community service
project.
 The Club has decided to build a
fully-fledged hospital, complete
with an out-patient unit, in-
patient unit with male, female
and children wards.

7. THE ROTARY HOSPITAL PROJECT

Construction
 The construction of the hospital
shall be phased, starting with the
out-patient unit that is estimated to
cost UGX. 600m.
 The out-patient unit comprises of a
minor Operating Theatre, Treatment
Rooms (dental, eye and general
clinics), Offices, a waiting area and
stores.
 Construction work was flagged off
by the Governor, Bank of Uganda
Emmanuel Tumusiime Mutebile on
26th July 2014.
 The Unit is expected to be completed
by June 2015.
