Technology has had a positive impact on education by providing easy access to information, increasing student interest and retention of information, and allowing for better presentation and storage of information as well as interactive and collaborative learning. Web 2.0 technologies, which enable participation, decentralization, openness and user control on the World Wide Web, can engage students, help them make real-world connections through their use in classrooms via applications like blogging, social networking, wikis and social bookmarking. These technologies not only help teach old content in new ways but also enable teaching new content in new ways.

Ltea2008 Student Learning Community Final Version
The Student Learning Community 2.0 Project aims to develop partnerships between the university's Computing Services, students, and departments to encourage the use of web 2.0 tools for student learning and research outside the classroom in a collaborative way.
