Kamala sees her friend Shanla cannot afford to go to school. She questions why education costs money and thinks adults who won't teach for free are selfish. Kamala decides to open her own free school. She and her friends raise money through sales. With the money and volunteer teachers, they build and open the school, allowing many children to attend, including Shanla. However, the governor tries to close the school. Kamala advocates to keep it open, and through a public vote, the school remains accepting students.

The French Revolution, which began in 1789, was a period of radical social and political upheaval in France. It marked the decline of absolute monarchies, the rise of secular and democratic republics, and the eventual rise of Napoleon Bonaparte. This revolutionary period is crucial in understanding the transition from feudalism to modernity in Europe.

A Strategic Approach: GenAI in EducationPeter Windle
Â
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.

June 3, 2024 Anti-Semitism Letter Sent to MIT President Kornbluth and MIT Cor...Levi Shapiro
Â
Letter from the Congress of the United States regarding Anti-Semitism sent June 3rd to MIT President Sally Kornbluth, MIT Corp Chair, Mark Gorenberg
Dear Dr. Kornbluth and Mr. Gorenberg,
The US House of Representatives is deeply concerned by ongoing and pervasive acts of antisemitic
harassment and intimidation at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Failing to act decisively to ensure a safe learning environment for all students would be a grave dereliction of your responsibilities as President of MIT and Chair of the MIT Corporation.
This Congress will not stand idly by and allow an environment hostile to Jewish students to persist. The House believes that your institution is in violation of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, and the inability or
unwillingness to rectify this violation through action requires accountability.
Postsecondary education is a unique opportunity for students to learn and have their ideas and beliefs challenged. However, universities receiving hundreds of millions of federal funds annually have denied
students that opportunity and have been hijacked to become venues for the promotion of terrorism, antisemitic harassment and intimidation, unlawful encampments, and in some cases, assaults and riots.
The House of Representatives will not countenance the use of federal funds to indoctrinate students into hateful, antisemitic, anti-American supporters of terrorism. Investigations into campus antisemitism by the Committee on Education and the Workforce and the Committee on Ways and Means have been expanded into a Congress-wide probe across all relevant jurisdictions to address this national crisis. The undersigned Committees will conduct oversight into the use of federal funds at MIT and its learning environment under authorities granted to each Committee.
⢠The Committee on Education and the Workforce has been investigating your institution since December 7, 2023. The Committee has broad jurisdiction over postsecondary education, including its compliance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, campus safety concerns over disruptions to the learning environment, and the awarding of federal student aid under the Higher Education Act.
⢠The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is investigating the sources of funding and other support flowing to groups espousing pro-Hamas propaganda and engaged in antisemitic harassment and intimidation of students. The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is the principal oversight committee of the US House of Representatives and has broad authority to investigate âany matterâ at âany timeâ under House Rule X.
⢠The Committee on Ways and Means has been investigating several universities since November 15, 2023, when the Committee held a hearing entitled From Ivory Towers to Dark Corners: Investigating the Nexus Between Antisemitism, Tax-Exempt Universities, and Terror Financing. The Committee followed the hearing with letters to those institutions on January 10, 202

The Rights to Education Story
1. By:Viva The Right to Schools
On Monday I was making money polishing in the shoe shop.I went to my
house,Counted up my money and mailed it to a school that was right for me
and went to school on Tuesday.
When I was walking to school I saw my friend âShanlaâ.I asked her âAre you
going to school?â.
She said ânoâ.Then I asked why and she said âbecause I donât have the money
to go to school Kamalaâ.I was so surprised and I asked but you have been to
school before right?
âNoâ she said again.
Then, while walking to school I was thinking why couldnât she go to school?
When I arrived at school I was excited that I even forgot about Shanlaâs not
going to school! While I was studying, the problem popped up into my head
again. Then it was lunch time but before I went to the cafeteria I asked my
teacher âWhy do our parents have to pay for our education?â
âwell,we get paid money to teach little onesâshe said.
âBut canât kids also teach others? I asked.
She told me she would answer me after school.
Then after school my teacher called me to her desk. She said kids canât teach
because kids donât know as much as us adults. But some adults didnât have the
money to go to college so they canât be teachers. While I was walking home I
thought another question âWhy canât teachers teach for free?â.Last night I
thought about Shanla a lot but then sleep came. The next day I asked my
teacher my question. She said it was because they need the money for the
family and living and then she said âno much adults will teach for freeâ.At that
moment I thought in my mind â they are so selfish for moneyâ.Then again the
day past by and I was kind of mad of how selfish adults were for money.
Saturday came and I said âalright,I will give an announcement mentioning
about education on MondayâSo on Monday I asked the principal if I could share
an announcement with the school. So everyone started heading to the
auditorium. I started my speech about school then I talked about kids that
canât afford to go to school. Then after the speech the principal was amused
about my speech he brought me to the governor.I was nervous on what the
governor will say to me.So I started my speech. After, the governor said
âso,why should kids go to school with no money,no school and thatâs kind of a
ruleâ.I thought in my mind â you donât care for the kids? you are really a
selfish governor who doesnât care for educationâ.When I arrived home I
thought all night what to do.
Then I got the idea of making a school of my own.So the next day I told my
teacher about the school and she said âKamala but that is similar to a normal
schoolâ then I added âthis one is a free schoolâ.Then at lunch time I told my
friends about the idea and thought it was perfect and the even asked if they
could help but when they said that I thought âwhere will I get teachers and a
principal? then I said âmy teacher sheâs a nice person to be a principalâ.So I
2. asked my teacher shyly if she would want to be the principal she said
âsureâ.So then she asked âwhere will I get the money?â
I replied âmy friends are going to make a sale of food
desserts, stationary, keychains and craftsâ and when my principal heard about
the idea he donated $250 to my friends at the sale.We started making posters
of volunteering for teachers and at the mean time I when I arrived after school
I told Shanla she soon will be able to go to school and I taught her
on what I knew so far in school. Then at the end of the month November me
and my friends made $60,958 and that was enough money to make a school
and weâve gotten a enough teachers for teaching classes. But then when I went
to a housing agency to buy a land to build the school the agent said first you
need the permission from the governor. Then I went again to the governor but
this time I wasnât scared. He said âSorry, but youâre to young to buy landâ.When
I went back to school and my teacher said I have to meet her after school with
my friends. So after school I told my teacher and friend what the governor said
but finally my teacher had an idea of her asking instead so the governor
wouldnât be so suspicious.Guess what? It worked and the builders were fast on
building the school and it was almost finished at the end of the month.
Soon our school almost was filled with students from our city and the students
were grateful about going to school. Then my teacher was now the principal
and she didnât work at my school. My friend on Tuesday gave me a letter that
said this: Dear Kamala,
Oh thank you so much for caring for me and other kids who didnât have the
money to have education!Iâm so lucky to have a friend like you.You really care
for every kid in the city including me and I think I know why you did
it,because you knew how I and the other kids felt and you didnât think it was
fair.So once again Thank You!
Your Friend Shanla.
After that letter I was crying.Crying because of joyfulness on what I did. After 1
month and a half the governor found out what I did and he was so angry that
he closed the school. When I heard the news I got really disappointed so I
made a really convincing speech so went back to the governor and with my
principal and teacher. When I started my speech I said it loud and clear so
everyone could hear it.After that I finished the governor made a vote and they
decided to keep the school except the governor. His face was really red it
looked like a apple. So now itâs March and everyone knows what Iâve done and
in the past Iâve had a lots of interviews from reporters.
I think I had done the right thing of building that school for the kids who canât
afford to go to school.Iâm thankful to the government they made a vote if they
should keep the school.Iâm the bravest kid I know when I fought for the school
and thankfully give a kid the normal life it wants
