The primary purpose was to demonstrate the need for adults and youth-focused institutions to support the development of digital media literacies. Rather than taking a "don't take any risks" approach or a "media are dangerous approach", this talk focuses on the positive ways young people engage with digital media for the purposes of identity exploration, socialization, learning, creativity, and autonomy. Developing digital media literacies, including network and social literacies, empowers students to actively and responsibly participate in the creation of their own media ecologies.

2) Experts argue that blended learning is needed to develop students' critical thinking, problem solving, communication and collaboration skills for a globally connected world.
3) The role of teachers is changing in blended models to focus more on facilitating student-centered learning rather than only lecturing. Teachers must be willing to embrace new technologies and ways of teaching.

Poverty-Moral Imperative Presentation NYSSBA Convention 2017
Public schools stand at the threshold of a system that has behind them a history of over five decades of testing for identification and accountability since ESEA was first enacted. In front of them is a landscape that is shaped by dramatic changes in demographics: ever changing technology; significant generational differences; and, policy changes at both the federal and state level that could deliver long sought after changes to top down accountability concepts. As educators, we can stand in the threshold, teaching and leading based on our past, or we can step through the door and facilitate learning in this new and constantly shifting environment.
51% of school children attending public schools in America live in poverty based on the federal definition. We have disaggregated student demographic data as it relates to achievement for many years to determine improvement initiatives. In recent years we have experienced significant increases in the costs associated with remedial instruction and special education; both while overall student enrollment in most rural schools is decreasing. The percentage of students eligible for free and reduced lunch has reached all-time highs in many rural, suburban, and urban public schools. What are the implications of all this in the schoolhouse when it comes to learning, teaching and leading?

Transforming Traditional Professional Development into Blended Learning Commu...
The New Jersey Department of Education sought to develop an online professional learning community for 150,000 educators in nearly 600 school districts. The authors present a post-project analysis of the project developed in support of Face-to-Face, Blended, and fully online learning situations. This project created an “Online Professional Learning Exchange” with blended online learning modules and was funded with over two million dollars. The greatest strength of the OPLE tool is to aid the state of NJ to shift their training from expert delivery of knowledge in a face-to-face format towards the Community of Practice. The paper presents a Systematic Review of the Literature, the analysis of Professional Learning and Training Methods, a description of the methods to create Blended Learning Modules focused on video, written materials, polls, and discussions. Through this integrated approach, the OPLE allows for user mastery of concepts that enhance their ability to provide more efficient and effective instruction to their students. Finally, the paper concludes with the results and implications in light of the current world developments and their impact on education.

Edited by Erin Reilly and Ioana Literat, this publication represents the collaboration of a working group composed of “a mixture of researchers, teachers and school administrators from a variety of disciplines, schools, and states,” who wanted to better understand how we might best prepare educators in order to incorporate “participatory learning” models into their classroom practices.

The Electronic Classroom of Tomorrow (ECOT) is an online charter school in Ohio founded in 2000 by William Lager to provide an alternative education option for students. ECOT aims to improve student academic achievement and engagement through its online curriculum. However, changes to comply with special education requirements have created cultural impacts and additional responsibilities that have challenged teachers. ECOT leadership is working to support teachers through professional development, team meetings, and process improvements to better meet student needs while sustaining educational quality.

Poverty-Moral Imperative Presentation NYSSBA Convention 2017
Public schools stand at the threshold of a system that has behind them a history of over five decades of testing for identification and accountability since ESEA was first enacted. In front of them is a landscape that is shaped by dramatic changes in demographics: ever changing technology; significant generational differences; and, policy changes at both the federal and state level that could deliver long sought after changes to top down accountability concepts. As educators, we can stand in the threshold, teaching and leading based on our past, or we can step through the door and facilitate learning in this new and constantly shifting environment.
51% of school children attending public schools in America live in poverty based on the federal definition. We have disaggregated student demographic data as it relates to achievement for many years to determine improvement initiatives. In recent years we have experienced significant increases in the costs associated with remedial instruction and special education; both while overall student enrollment in most rural schools is decreasing. The percentage of students eligible for free and reduced lunch has reached all-time highs in many rural, suburban, and urban public schools. What are the implications of all this in the schoolhouse when it comes to learning, teaching and leading?

Each year The Harold W. McGraw, Jr. Prize in Education recognizes outstanding educational leaders whose accomplishments have significantly improved the quality of American education and made a lasting difference in the lives of countless students. The pantheon of previous McGraw Prize winners constitutes a virtual “Who’s Who” in American education. This year we sought out individuals who are using technology to advance the learning sciences and transform education. Therefore, we now have the pleasure of honoring three great educational entrepreneurs: Robert Beichner, Mitchel Resnick and Julie Young.
To tap their collective insight, McGraw-Hill asked Beichner, Resnick and Young to collaborate on a white paper which draws on their perspectives spanning across elementary, secondary and post-secondary education. The paper hones in on one of the unheralded benefits of educational technology: to enhance and strengthen the human connections that facilitate learning.

The New Jersey Department of Education sought to develop an online professional learning community for 150,000 educators in nearly 600 school districts. The authors present a post-project analysis of the project developed in support of Face-to-Face, Blended, and fully online learning situations. This project created an “Online Professional Learning Exchange” with blended online learning modules and was funded with over two million dollars. The greatest strength of the OPLE tool is to aid the state of NJ to shift their training from expert delivery of knowledge in a face-to-face format towards the Community of Practice. The paper presents a Systematic Review of the Literature, the analysis of Professional Learning and Training Methods, a description of the methods to create Blended Learning Modules focused on video, written materials, polls, and discussions. Through this integrated approach, the OPLE allows for user mastery of concepts that enhance their ability to provide more efficient and effective instruction to their students. Finally, the paper concludes with the results and implications in light of the current world developments and their impact on education.

This Dissertation explores the particular circumstances of Mirzapur, a region located in the
core of India. Mirzapur, with its varied terrains and abundant biodiversity, offers an optimal
environment for investigating the changes in vegetation cover dynamics. Our study utilizes
advanced technologies such as GIS (Geographic Information Systems) and Remote sensing to
analyze the transformations that have taken place over the course of a decade.
The complex relationship between human activities and the environment has been the focus
of extensive research and worry. As the global community grapples with swift urbanization,
population expansion, and economic progress, the effects on natural ecosystems are becoming
more evident. A crucial element of this impact is the alteration of vegetation cover, which plays a
significant role in maintaining the ecological equilibrium of our planet.Land serves as the foundation for all human activities and provides the necessary materials for
these activities. As the most crucial natural resource, its utilization by humans results in different
'Land uses,' which are determined by both human activities and the physical characteristics of the
land.
The utilization of land is impacted by human needs and environmental factors. In countries
like India, rapid population growth and the emphasis on extensive resource exploitation can lead
to significant land degradation, adversely affecting the region's land cover.
Therefore, human intervention has significantly influenced land use patterns over many
centuries, evolving its structure over time and space. In the present era, these changes have
accelerated due to factors such as agriculture and urbanization. Information regarding land use and
cover is essential for various planning and management tasks related to the Earth's surface,
providing crucial environmental data for scientific, resource management, policy purposes, and
diverse human activities.
Accurate understanding of land use and cover is imperative for the development planning
of any area. Consequently, a wide range of professionals, including earth system scientists, land
and water managers, and urban planners, are interested in obtaining data on land use and cover
changes, conversion trends, and other related patterns. The spatial dimensions of land use and
cover support policymakers and scientists in making well-informed decisions, as alterations in
these patterns indicate shifts in economic and social conditions. Monitoring such changes with the
