This document defines and provides examples for several vocabulary words: hovel describes a poor or run-down dwelling; nocturnal means active at night; berserk refers to a state of uncontrolled rage, as seen in Norse warriors; scowl describes a facial expression showing anger or disapproval; pathetic evokes feelings of pity or sadness; and loathe means to dislike greatly, often with disgust. Examples are given for uses of berserk, loathe, and putrid flesh is used to illustrate the meaning of the word putrid.
