As I am siting and read thing the passages from our reading book The Norton Anthology World Literature I'm a little taken back. As a child who
was raised reading the Bible at church I have learned that I never took the time to really see what it was telling me. I see in reading passage of section
in of Hebrew's Genesis 6–9 where the words say " and to the woman, "Though God said, you shall not eat from any tree in the garden" (96). This is
where the woman is talking to the serpent and she is telling him that God told her not to eat from the tree that is in the middle of the garden. But, like

Throughout these four pieces of world literature, it really shows the uniqueness of each culture that was represented in each film or text. These
pieces of world literature have shown how each culture have developed a sense of hybridity in response to cross cultural exchange. For example
how in "Kony2012" and in "Mulan" was both a film but they were films that were told from a different point of view, not only that but also the
purpose of the two films were different. Both of these films were told from America aspect of life but it focused on anotherculture. It is also evident in

World literature is not exactly something that can be defined in one sentence. It has been given multiple meanings by many different authors and
people throughout the years. A very brief way to describe the meaning of world literature is literature that circulates elsewhere around the world rather
than in its own origin or hometown. Some common examples of world literature are Moby Dick by Herman Melville, Things Fall Apart by Chinua
Achebe, and Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen. World literature is important for today's students to read for a glimpse into the lifestyle of the

The moral of The Prisoner is a person must realize that God is the only one who can free them from the sorrow and feeling of imprisonment which will
cause them to, "become completely powerless." (The Norton Anthology World Literature, pg. 120, 23–24) A person can only serve one Master; God or

the diverse variety of genres in books that have been spread worldwide and have become well known. It is important to know about these two themes

Another theme that is in World Literature is Freedom. This theme comes up in both "Night" and "A Doll's House" in different ways. In "Night",
Eliezer is rescued from the malicious Germans by American forces. This is called literal freedom, because Eliezer is freed from the main struggle
physically, but will never be able to recover/escape mentally. In the book, "A Doll's House", Nora is released from her "fake" marriage with
Torvald since she is no longer treated like she is under him, let alone feel like she is trapped in a relationship with him. This is called emotional
freedom, because she was originally trapped in the state of mind that she was only a household wife, until she was, finally, able to be free of that mind

the floodgates for the horror to come. Over the years, technology has improved the quality of life for many, but at the same time, has interfered with
one's privacy and safety. With the invention of the automatic machine gun, soldiers were forced to abandon the "gentlemanly" strategy of forming a
neat line and firing at the enemy based on the commander's word (Barron). With soldiers utilizing technological advancements during World War I
effectively, men were killed rapidly and efficiently in a dispassionate manner by their enemy. Thus, soldiers were forced to lead with instincts rather

In this essay the intent is to convey the function of world literature, more importantly the function of literature period. How does literature from every
part of the world impact every level of education in the United States? For that matter "pre–education".
If you asked the question; "What is Literature or World Literature and its function? What answer would expect to get, or think a person would say?
When initially developing the thought process for this essay, the focus was on literature that was not "American" and on things such as the classics. It
was an inside the box thought process. To truly understand from pre–education through the basic levels of education; should the title "Function of

Multiple people believe that literature is sought to be the study of written text. Although this is true, literature has many different parts to it and is an
expression of creative thoughts and freedoms that allow you to have limitless boundaries. The way that authors translate their thoughts and feelings
into novels, plays and poems allows one to feel the power of their emotions. In addition, literature has the power to teach one the value of knowledge
by being able to view the insights of others, as well as allowing one to gain a new perspective. Literature should have an increased importance in
society, due to the fact that it is a source to connect people through the insight of others and helps one remain human by the empathy that is created

Take for example the views of two individuals coming from different places on anovel based on the culture of one. It would likely be the same if their
culture and beliefs are quiet related but if not, then they would surely have different understandings on certain parts of that novel. Hence, defining

Eagleton also associated literature as any kind of works which are valued highly by people. But then again, since people may have different
perceptions on things, one may value highly a certain work while another person may consider it just as a plain writing. As stated by Ms. Pinzon, a

The two word title of the play "Blood Wedding" by Frederico Garcia
Lorca presents both a contradiction and a concurrence. These themes continue throughout the play, and the two words of the title are used to capture

She is very interested to know what the girl's mother is like, and we learn from the neighbour that "she was very proud"[2], and that "she never
loved her husband"[3]. This knowledge gives the audience a sense of foreboding for the repetition of past events. We know that the mother's interest
in the bride's mother stems from her belief that this blood relationship will show her what the girl is like. If we accept this point of view, we believe
that history may repeat itself, and with the bridegroom already linked by his blood to murder and killing doom seems inevitable.
Even the wife of Leonardo is a victim of the repetition of family history. Before Leonardo runs away with the bride, the wife suspects that he will not
remain faithful, and referring to his lack of loyalty to her she says "it happened to my mother, now it is happening to me"[4].
So there are four characters in the play who are afflicted by the history of their ancestors. The bride's mother never loved her husband, the
bridegroom's father and older brother were both murdered by members of the Felix family, Leonardo's ancestors murdered members of the
bridegroom's family, and the mother of Leonardo's wife was also deserted by her husband. All of these links clearly show the importance of the blood

He first recounts how he spent his younger years learning. He then states that in his

Finally, in his later years, he comes to understand that Heaven brings the process to an
end and he makes peace with that recognition.
Further along in the anthology, Catullus' Lyrics shares an entire cycle of a romantic
involvement that ends badly, the same type of relationship universally witnessed first–
hand or through acquaintances. Catullus demonstrates the highs and lows of his
impassioned emotions as he asserts that he loves and hates simultaneously (85: 1–2).

World Literature Class Analysis
My overall experience within the World Literature class was rather lackluster if I may say so. The content that was shown within the class I found
rather boring and did not have much reason to teaching it. Although three sections that I had found interesting which was Beowulf, Asian Literature
and our independent novel study. They both held values and moral standards that were in place to teach the reader. These were interesting and
compiled. For the instance of all the other stories or literature that we examined in class it was boring and did not do much for me. Although I only
skimmed those ones I could see that they seemed to be dragged out and tedious to read. As for trips the took they were well planned and gave the
class something to watch which is expansive in the realm of forms of study. Although some of the text that provided the most of a learning experience
was "The Analects" written by Confucius where he said At fifteen I set my heart upon learning. At thirty, I planted my feet firm upon the ground. At
