[Mini-Workshop] Content Architecture: Where Humans and Machines AgreeAndrea L. Ames

Andrea's Information Development World mini-workshop
http://informationdevelopmentworld.com/speakers/andrea-ames/
Handout: https://www.slideshare.net/aames/handout-for-miniworkshop-content-architecture-where-humans-and-machines-agree
If thereโs one thing about content on which humans and machines can agree, itโs consistency โ particularly architectural consistency. Often the format, markup language, or content management approach that you use is far less relevant than the output of the contentโthe deliverables, themselvesโin the success of content for both humans and machines. This is somewhat controversial, as much of the discussion of โstructured contentโ dives directly to the underlying formatโeven though the architecture and design of the resulting experience and content within that experience should be driving those more technical decisions.
Arguably, the most critical aspect of structured contentโโthe architectureโโdrives the success of the content for people and machines. The pitfalls of leaping directly into a technology discussionโabout XML, content management systems, etc.โvs. spending the right time and focus on design can often lead to significantly less successful content, rework, and additional cost.
Attend this mini-workshop with Andrea Ames to better understand content modeling at the deliverable and experience levelโnot at the individual article or topic level. Youโll learn about an approach for accomplishing great content architecture (one that can save time, reduce costs, and help you use your limited resources wisely). And, youโll discover the steps youโll need to follow in order to successfully createโand validateโyour own content modeling approach.
Andrea's half-day LavaCon 2017, Portland, OR, workshop
Youโve likely heard of Design Thinking, but did you know that itโs not specifically and only about โdesignโ as we typically think of design โ industrial, interaction, or visual design of products? Design Thinking is a methodology for problem solving, and weโve all got challenges and issues we need to address every day! In fact, Design Thinking is becoming more and more common as a general business practice. And itโs great for working through content challenges!
Join Andrea for a half-day, experiential tour of several techniques used in Design Thinking. Using one or more sample problems, workshop participants will work together to develop solutions following a Design Thinking framework. Because weโll be face-to-face, weโll go low-tech and focus on the framework and techniques using flip-chart paper and stickie notes. Andrea will also discuss how to get the most from the process across geographically distributed teams using online tools.
Structured Content ... Sexy? Strategic? Or Both?Andrea L. Ames
ย
Andrea's presentation at Adobe DITA World 2017
It might be hard to believe, but Structured Content has been around for decades. FrameBuilder (an early version of FrameMaker with structured content support) made its debut in the early 1990s. Through the rise of modern tools, like FrameMaker 2017, and technologies, like DITA, structured content has become much easier to author, and thus more popular.
But is structured content important? Or is it just another (albeit long-lived) trend? Given structured content's long reign, isnโt it time for a new strategy to overthrow the throne? For now, at least, the answer is โno.โ
If there is a holy grail of content, most experts would probably agree itโs structure. Why? Because structure provides so many benefits, in so many different ways โ to authors and authoring, to the content experience, enabling achieving business goals. And the list goes on.
In her presentation, Andrea will discuss the business, user experience, and organizational impact of structured content โ all of the aspects that make structured content strategic. And then sheโll try to convince you that structured content is sexy, too!
Finding the 'Seams': Making User Stories SmallerTechWell

When we adopt agile practices and a lean mindset, we make great promises to ourselves but we often encounter difficulties in creating user stories that are of high quality and utility. Mitch Goldstein describes why user stories and their value are the currency of agile and lean software development. Mitch illustrates why making smaller and more nimble stories significantly increases the likelihood of a story's completion and success. What do we look for in user stories that tell us they need to be split? Are there certain words or phrases that identify stories as good candidates for splitting? Mitch shares valuable tips for more effective stories, as well as how to enhance your expertise and reduce angst in estimation and prioritization. Small stories lay the groundwork for great agile successes.

Creating the Competitive Edge: Successfully establish, lead and mentor a stud...Conny Liegl

As a student supervisor of a team of six at Kennedy Library, I am challenged not just with providing services to clients and stakeholders, but also carry a moral responsibility for my employed students. Students are essential to my daily work, and indispensable for many large-scale, high-visibility projects. It is important to identify individual studentsโ needs and goals, as well to recognize current stressors and worries. It is essential to me to provide student assistants with valuable experiences that directly apply to their interests and their future job tasks. To mentor effectively also means to collaborate broadly with colleagues from different disciplines and colleges in hands-on partnerships. Class assignments, senior projects and staff collaborations provide opportunities for students to experiment, explore and broaden studentsโ skillsets.
With a team of web developers, graphic designers and user experience student assistants, we managed to convince stakeholders of a mobile-first approach for our website, and encourage students to combine senior projects with their assistantship.
My ten rules for an effective student-supervisor relationship, which I will elaborate in my presentation, are: 1. Give pointers and directions, not orders. 2. Teach only what youโre good at. 3. Take students seriously. 4. Talk and sketch together. 5. Listen. 6. Watch. 7. Learn. 8. Experiment. 9. Keep problems away. 10. Have fun! To prove the effectiveness of these simple rules, I will highlight library projects, faculty collaborations and successful partnerships with examples from Outstanding Student Employees of the Year, Hackathon competitors and successful graduates.

Memorandum Of Association Constitution of Company.pptseri bangash
ย

A Memorandum of Association (MOA) is a legal document that outlines the fundamental principles and objectives upon which a company operates. It serves as the company's charter or constitution and defines the scope of its activities. Here's a detailed note on the MOA:
Contents of Memorandum of Association:
Name Clause: This clause states the name of the company, which should end with words like "Limited" or "Ltd." for a public limited company and "Private Limited" or "Pvt. Ltd." for a private limited company.
https://seribangash.com/article-of-association-is-legal-doc-of-company/
Registered Office Clause: It specifies the location where the company's registered office is situated. This office is where all official communications and notices are sent.
Objective Clause: This clause delineates the main objectives for which the company is formed. It's important to define these objectives clearly, as the company cannot undertake activities beyond those mentioned in this clause.
www.seribangash.com
Liability Clause: It outlines the extent of liability of the company's members. In the case of companies limited by shares, the liability of members is limited to the amount unpaid on their shares. For companies limited by guarantee, members' liability is limited to the amount they undertake to contribute if the company is wound up.
https://seribangash.com/promotors-is-person-conceived-formation-company/
Capital Clause: This clause specifies the authorized capital of the company, i.e., the maximum amount of share capital the company is authorized to issue. It also mentions the division of this capital into shares and their respective nominal value.
Association Clause: It simply states that the subscribers wish to form a company and agree to become members of it, in accordance with the terms of the MOA.
Importance of Memorandum of Association:
Legal Requirement: The MOA is a legal requirement for the formation of a company. It must be filed with the Registrar of Companies during the incorporation process.
Constitutional Document: It serves as the company's constitutional document, defining its scope, powers, and limitations.
Protection of Members: It protects the interests of the company's members by clearly defining the objectives and limiting their liability.
External Communication: It provides clarity to external parties, such as investors, creditors, and regulatory authorities, regarding the company's objectives and powers.
https://seribangash.com/difference-public-and-private-company-law/
Binding Authority: The company and its members are bound by the provisions of the MOA. Any action taken beyond its scope may be considered ultra vires (beyond the powers) of the company and therefore void.
Amendment of MOA:
While the MOA lays down the company's fundamental principles, it is not entirely immutable. It can be amended, but only under specific circumstances and in compliance with legal procedures. Amendments typically require shareholder
