6. Packet switching
 Method of transmitting data thru variety of different paths
 User is billed by the data packets sent and;
 Not the route or distance traveled (as opposed to circuit-
switching in leased/ dedicated phone lines)
 Eliminates need for expensive dedicated lines
 The Internet is a packet-switched network.
 i.e.; Transmissions can route anywhere without regard to
distance.
 In packet switching, the source and destination are
known, but the path automatically changes (it is variable).
