Over the course of history, a steadfast desire for knowledge has galvanized humanity. Today, countless individuals embrace their ambitions and attend
college in hopes of furthering their educations. For this reason, an abundance of attractive options is being offered to vehement learners. In particular,
numerous schools across the United States have implemented living–learning communities. Within these programs, enthusiastic students reside
alongside others who share similar passions and beliefs. Gradually, the popularity of these groups continues to increase and generate public interest.
Joining a living–learning community is certainly a beneficial experience because the approach eases tensions, promotes engagement, and inspires
success.
By opting to enroll in a living–learning community, students can alleviate their anxieties regarding college. Entering an unfamiliar environment can
naturally be both a daunting and stressful endeavor. Nonetheless, administrators seek to relieve fears caused by the overwhelming presence of a
university. Academic advisor Vicki Nelson acknowledges that these projects "can help to shrink the psychological size of the campus..." ("Should My

There is no uniformed look when trying to pick out an American in a group of people. America is a diverse place with diverse people and the English
language is our universal connector. So why is it that when people who don't "look American" speak English no one cares to listen? Being in the
Korean Culture Club (KCC) and the Future TeacherLearning Community (FTLC) has showed me that no matter what appearance we may show our
true communication is in how we speak through education, participation, expression, and performance.
The KCC and the FTLC are two communities that in that both involve learning and teaching. When I first started the KCC they told us that the first

Furthermore, our class on Professional Learning Communities (PLC) also had a great impact on me as an instructional coach. One of my
responsibilities each week is to lead teachers in PLC. As stated previously, last year was my first year in this new role. My partner left the district
very late in the summer and we were unable to find a replacement so I was doing the job of two people. I wasn't sure how PLC was supposed to be
structured and I didn't have anyone to lean on for support, so I did the best I could to provide teachers with a new instructional strategy each week
that could be used in their classrooms. I thought I was doing a great job in PLC until I began the Schools and Professional Learning Communities
course. I learned from the work of DuFour and many others that PLC was intended to be a time of collaboration. Teachers should be reviewing their
students' data and using that time to make informed instructional decisions after collaborating with their colleagues. Teachers were walking away
each week with new learning; however, there was very little, if any, time spent on reviewing student work samples and adjusting instruction based on

What consist of or can be seen as the factors of a learning community? According to Richard DuFour a professional learning community starts with a
three big ideas. First, ensuring that students learn. DuFour sees the core mission of education is to not simply ensure that students are taught, but to
ensure they learn. By looking at what we want each student to learn, evaluating how we know when that learning as occurred, and how we respond to

PLC means professional learning communities which are set up by teachers in order to help the students who seem to be lagging behind the others
academically. This is a way to reach out to the students on a more personal level, where they get to interact not only with the books, but also with the
teachers who are able to guide them by recognizing their strengths and their weaknesses. This form of assistance goes a long way in assisting the
student develop a positive attitude towards studies and have the zeal to excel by having a personal coach present to guide them whenever they get
stuck or make a mistake. This is a very encouraging way of ensuring homogenous learning in today's academic institutions. The parents of the poorly
performing students themselves seem grateful for the attention given to their young ones, as it is any parent's dream to see their children excel
academically, and at the same time get value for their money.

learning communities that share three common factors: shared knowledge, shared knowing and shared responsibility (Rao, 2005). The courses are

improve in. Most of the meals they pack up are sent to pantries and other organizations that need food for individuals and families. Usually, food banks
do not distribute their meals, but Houston Food Bank does. With the help of volunteers, they can sort, pack and distribute food. Most of the food
given to them are provided from donors, local companies around the city, and USDA. The food given to them would go to waste without their help
and the volunteers who make the meals happen. I attended the Houston Food Bank, and while I was there, I could tell they have strong teamwork
within the organization. All the employees knew what to do and how to handle that many volunteers. They all communicated with the volunteers with
a professional, friendly way. They could get everyone who came in to sign in and get everything set up to start the day. I was not able to tell one thing
