The Institution unites the skills of engineering, design and technology to deliver quality lighting for the built environment and public benefit. In setting and establishing standards for good practice, the Institution seeks to ensure that its members attain and develop the professional knowledge, education and skills to meet necessary competencies and to enhance their careers. Working on exterior and interior projects and in public spaces and in workplace, leisure, retail and residential applications, members of the Institution deliver excellence in light and lighting, a quality which is recognised by both private and public sectors. • Our membership is broadening away from the
traditional lighting engineer and we are now
attracting members from other lighting related
professions.
• We now have several prominent lighting designers
as members.
• We are the largest and most influential professional
lighting association! And we are growing…..

3. MEMBERSHIP STATISTICS
• In 2013 over 200 new members joined the ILP.
• Over 80 of them in the last three months.
• In 2013 over 40 members rejoined the ILP after a
gap of more than 12 months.
• The YLP now has over 200 members.
• Total membership is on the rise after a couple of
years of falling numbers.
• 15 Exterior Lighting Diploma students are now
EngTech AMILP.

4. EC MEMBERSHIP STATISTICS
• The Engineering Council has recently posted its
statistics for 2013.
• The ILP registered 21 people as either EngTech,
IEng or CEng last year, compared to 13 in 2012.
• That’s an increase of over 60%!
• The ILP has moved up from 29th to 26th place in the
league table of number of registrants in the year.
