In this talk, open source developer and big data guru John A. De Goes digs into the guts of a new open source project called SlamData. SlamData is a rapidly growing open source project that brings BI-like capabilities to NoSQL databases. Unlike competing approaches which rely on ETL to make NoSQL data tabular, SlamData extends the foundation of relational algebra so it can natively slice and dice, transform, and aggregate nested, heterogeneous documents. SlamData plugs directly into MongoDB and other NoSQL databases and allows data discovery, data preparation, and dasbhoarding. John discusses how the high-level architecture of the project, some of the prominent use cases, and ways companies can become involved in contributing to its ongoing development.
