Getty Images is working with Flickr members by having editors contact photographers via FlickrMail if they are interested in including their public photos in The Flickr Collection on Getty Images. Photographers must then sign up as Getty Images Contributors and submit their photos for review. The document also provides a long list of third party tools and sites that interface with Flickr through its API to allow photo searching, uploading, downloading, organizing and more. It concludes by asking if anyone has any other questions or comments.
Using Flickr at the Archives of Independence Seaport Museummherbison
This document discusses the Independence Seaport Museum's use of Flickr to share photos online from an exhibit on historical ship christening photos. Using Flickr increased the discoverability and exposure of the museum's resources. It drove more traffic and longer visits to the museum website. While Flickr allowed sharing content with minimal technical requirements, the museum did not fully leverage community aspects and has concerns about open commenting. Flickr is suggested as an alternative to expensive digital asset management systems for photo sharing by archives.

Flickr also has an API that allows developers to access Flickr data and build applications that interact with Flickr features like photo uploads, tags, and comments. The API documentation provides over 100 public methods that can be used to access Flickr functionality through various authentication methods without using passwords.
Flickr is a photo sharing website and online community that allows users to upload, organize, and share photos. It has over 7 million registered users who upload over 5,000 photos per minute. Flickr revolutionized how photos are shared both for professional and amateur photographers. The community aspect is a key part of Flickr, with users tagging photos, commenting, and forming groups around interests. The strong online community also leads to real world meetups. While basic accounts are free, pro accounts provide more storage and capabilities for an annual fee.
The International Image Interoperability Framework Why It’s a Game-Changer fo...CONUL Conference
The document discusses the International Image Interoperability Framework (IIIF). It describes IIIF as an open specification that facilitates access to and use of images by providing standards for serving images, metadata, and related services. Key points include:
- IIIF defines core APIs for image delivery and presentation of image metadata, as well as additional APIs for search and authentication.
- The APIs allow for features like zooming, comparing images, annotations, and embedding while retaining provider control.
- Implementations offer benefits like enabling sharing, comparing, and annotating of digital materials across institutions.
- IIIF represents a shift toward interoperability of digital content rather than just metadata, opening opportunities for new tools,

Copyright protects original creative works like writing, art, music, and films from being copied without permission. It applies automatically to any original work as soon as it is created and fixed in a tangible form, unless the creator specifies otherwise. There are several types of licenses people can choose from to share their work, including traditional copyright, public domain, creative commons licenses that allow some sharing and reuse, and copyleft licenses that require derived works to also be shared. Understanding copyright and creative licenses is important so people know how they can legally use and build upon existing creative works of others.

Webinar: Designing a schema for a Data WarehouseFederico Razzoli
Are you new to data warehouses (DWH)? Do you need to check whether your data warehouse follows the best practices for a good design? In both cases, this webinar is for you.
A data warehouse is a central relational database that contains all measurements about a business or an organisation. This data comes from a variety of heterogeneous data sources, which includes databases of any type that back the applications used by the company, data files exported by some applications, or APIs provided by internal or external services.
But designing a data warehouse correctly is a hard task, which requires gathering information about the business processes that need to be analysed in the first place. These processes must be translated into so-called star schemas, which means, denormalised databases where each table represents a dimension or facts.
We will discuss these topics:
- How to gather information about a business;
- Understanding dictionaries and how to identify business entities;
- Dimensions and facts;
- Setting a table granularity;
- Types of facts;
- Types of dimensions;
- Snowflakes and how to avoid them;
- Expanding existing dimensions and facts.
