The problem of garbage management is global and almost similar in any part of society. Disposal of
waste and its trans-port are prime concerns for major cities. This is due to the fact that improper waste
management is the core cause of many diseases which in turn affects the local population. There have
been growing interest in the field of waste management due to two reasons. Firstly, due to the scarcity
of waste disposal lands and secondly due to its recycling value. Most of the waste items can either be
decomposed or recycled. These recycled waste items are of great value for companies. Thus waste
segregation is at the root of waste recycling plants.
However, companies spend a lot of resources to separate recyclable waste from non-recyclable
ones. This is majorly due to the fact of poor waste segregation policies adopted by houses. With the
increasing technological intervention in essential day to day activities, life has become simpler. The
concepts of IoT and Cloud can be brought together to design newer, smarter ways for solving
fundamental problems.

SmartBin provides a simple and easy to implement
approach towards waste segregation in Wet or Dry based
on the moisture content of the disposed item. However, the
model requires manually to place the waste material on
the sensor to make this decision. Our proposed system
uses some of the design and logic aspects of SmartBin
for ease of implementation. While our "ECOSORTIC" has
advance features like conveyor that automate garbage
disposal.

SIGNIFICANCE
T H E F U T U R E I S I N O U R H A N D S
A smart bin in a crowded place or community is significant as it promotes
efficient waste management by automatically segregating recyclables,
non-recyclables, and organic waste. This reduces environmental
pollution, minimizes manual handling of waste, and encourages
sustainability. Additionally, it enhances cleanliness, prevents overflowing
bins, and raises awareness about proper waste disposal, making the
community more eco-friendly and hygienic.
