Payaowas integrated into the CoRAL Project as one of the livelihood components, as it was strongly suggested by the fishermen during the community meetings. It has a great impact in closing the disparity and unequal access to resources between commercial fishing and artisanal fishing. This is achieved by providing mechanisms for artisanal fishermen to access to pelagic fishes (using payaos deployed in deep see) which is currently accessible only to commercial fishermen.
