Fleece fabric structures
▪ Fleece yarn fibres get entangled and
are indistinguishable from the face
yarn on the effect side, despite being
fed separately while knitting on
machines
▪ Technically known as three thread
fleece in circular knitting; uses three
types of knitted loops
▪ Variations in fabric can be achieved
on single jersey circular knitting
machines through the changes in the
knitting cams and needle
arrangements
▪ This illustration shows the most common three thread
fleece structure. the double yarns, i.e., the face yarn
and binding yarn, form a plain jersey structure, while
the fleece yarn is held by the face yarn. Floating
stitches of the fleece yarn over a span of three wales
from the fleecy loop.
▪ Other variations are created by varying the width of the
fleecy loop, or varying the location where the tie-in yarn
holds the fleecy yarn between two adjacent courses
