In my healthcare setting, we use several health informatics methods such as pagers, mobile phones, communication system, medicine dispensing devices and barcode systems, but one that has been much applauded during this COVID 19 era is Telemedicine. I work in a psych/detox hospital.
We found telemedicine very relevant based on research results indicating that people with mental health problems are twice more likely to be frequent users of hospital emergency departments (Hunt, Weber, Showstack, Colby, & Callaham, 2006). The use of the emergency department for routine clinical care poses a huge strain on the health system because of the high cost of treatment, restricting use of the emergency department for admission of patients who really require admissions. This is also because of the associated complexity and pressure to admit patients for inpatient care (Institute of Medicine (U.S.), 2007).
Recent technological advancements have led to easy access to videoconferencing utilizing personal computers or tablets. A few research work has also been carried out using telemedicine. Patients are encouraged to check their vital signs using personal devices. Also, the introduction of asynchronous store-and-forward approaches enable clinicians review their patient without direct interaction. Also, telehomecare enables clinicians monitor their patients in their own homes (Yellowlees et al., 2010). As someone with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), I have struggled with short-term memory issues for my entire life. However, since I was diagnosed later in life, I spent the bulk of my school-age years developing strategies to deal with what I thought were typical memory issues that everyone faced. By the time I entered university I knew that unless I physically wrote out my notes with a pen on paper, I would not remember them because it was too easy for me to type notes while my mind was ‘elsewhere’ not paying attention. If I needed to remember a list of things, I needed to write it somewhere I would see it repeatedly, like the back of my hand or the leg of my jeans; a list on paper in my pocket was quickly forgotten – out of sight out of mind.
The working memory model, developed by Baddeley and Hitch in 1974, focuses on the idea that working memory has a limited capacity to store information temporarily as it processes where the information is to go, such as into long-term memory to action (Baddeley, 2003). The information that is gathered falls into different subsets of the overall system, determined by the central executive: the phonological loop (spoken or written information) or visuospatial sketchpad (visual or spatial information) or the episodic buffer (a general category) (Mcleod, 2012).
Issues with short-term memory loss as related to ADHD and the working memory model comes from reported deficits in the ability to control attention and an oversaturation of information input into the central executive (Ortega et al., 2020; Mcleod, 2012). This results in information input being disorganized and not always making it to the long-term memory. Meaning, my central executive may not function in the manner in which Baddeley (2003) suggests it should and it can get easily overwhelmed, resulting in the interference of informational input and encoding. Issues with short-term memory are often considered to be as a result of decay or interference, though decay is difficult to prove due to issues with testability and overall understanding of the cause (Jonides et al., 2008).
It was explained to me that many people who have unknowingly existed with ADHD throughout their lives have developed both conscious and unconscious strategies to manage any cognitive processing issues they deal with. I mentioned writing things down as a conscious strategy that I have implemented over the years. Another strategy that I’ve used and continue to practice is repeating someone’s name back to them when being introduced. The act of saying their name out loud forces my attention to be focused on that singular piece of information, allowing for a better chance of it being appropriately encoded and therefore retrieved. Another option is to use a multisensory strategy when possible, allowing for auditory and visual input of the same information. Saying someone’s name out loud and reading it on a name tag for example. I’ve also asked people in the past .

Federalist believe that a Bill of Rights is completely unnecessary and danger. Quote:"It has been several times truly remarked, that bills of rights are in their origin, stipulations between kings and their subjects, abridgments of prerogative in favor of privilege, reservations of rights not surrendered to the prince. Such was Magna Carta, obtained by the Barons, sword in hand, from king John ... It is evident, therefore, that according to their primitive signification, they have no application to constitutions professedly founded upon the power of the people, and executed by their immediate representatives and servants. Here, in strictness, the people surrender nothing, and as they retain everything, they have no need of particular reservations." How is having a Bill of Rights dangerous? If states and individual people have individuals right the Bill of Rights, then more people would agree, but Federalists think only more trouble will come.

My name is Paul Amigh (pronounced Ah-me'), and I am a student in the PhD Public Health program at Walden University with a concentration in Epidemiology and a Teaching Assistant for the School of Health Sciences bachelor’s degree programs. I have obtained my entire college experience from Walden University, and it has changed my life and given me the desire to change the lives of others.
I am a U.S. Army veteran who graduated from the Academy of Health Sciences, attended vocational school in Central PA for my L.P.N. license, and hold a BS in Public Health with a concentration in Health Informatics from Walden University. I have spent my life in service of my country and others working as medic, a prison nurse, travel nurse, and as a charge nurse in an advanced Alzheimer’s unit. Feeling a greater need to do more for my community and improve the lives of others, it was my bachelor’s degree from Walden University that gave me the opportunity to work in education. I began teaching medical assisting, medical billing and coding, and health informatics classes at a local technical school in Central Pennsylvania, but I still felt I could do more.
I created a local chapter of SkillsUSA and began to train students in leadership and skills competitions related to their chosen vocational career path. It was here I discovered students just need someone to believe in them. Spending a few hours each day training and working with these students to improve upon the soft skills employers are looking for in communication, conflict resolution, critical thinking, and fundraising the entire cost of membership and travel, I created Champions at Work. Over the last six years, I have personally trained and mentored more than 50 Pennsylvania State Gold Medalists and trained fifteen National Medalists, with five of them becoming national champions!
This October I stepped down from teaching and have been appointed as the new Public Health Program Administrator of Western Pennsylvania for the PA Department of Health’s Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) Program. demic labs to Big Pharma are fi nding themselves
drowning in data. What used to be gigabytes
worth of information has become terabytes or
petabytes. At the same time, the cost crunch
brought on by the global recession has made
researchers leery of unnecessary capital spending.
The result is more and more users moving their data management
to the cloud or outsourcing it entirely.
Whereas large pharma companies may have the funds and
infrastructure to maintain dedicated servers for storage and analysis
of sequencing data, small companies—especially those that don’t
sequence continuously—are leading the migration to the cloud, and
service providers are springing up to meet the demand. Cost, secu-
rity, and convenience top the list of concerns for researchers looking
for a place to unload reams of data. However, once that transition is
made, features like collaborative data sharing, access to third-party
analysis apps, and patient privacy become more important.
Expression Analysis, a Quintiles Co., Durham, N.C., provides
genomic services to the pharma and biotech industry, as well as
academic, government, and foundation laboratories doing research
in molecular biology and genetics. It provides cloud computing
services through a partnership with Golden Helix Inc., Bozeman,
Mont. Its clients require computation-intensive services for gener-
ating the initial RNA or DNA sequence and also for cleaning up,
aligning, and analyzing the sequence.
According to Expression Analysis, a typical sequencing project
for 100 RNA samples would generate 300 to 400 GB worth of com-
pressed data, or 700 GB to 1 TB worth of data in total; and that’s
just for one experiment. For multiple experiments, the amount of
data can add up to astronomical quantities quite quickly.
Some applications, such as analyzing cancer samples, are even
more data intensive, because of the depth of coverage and the need
to sample multiple cells in the tumor.
“The cloud offers a full environment in order to do analysis on
a large number of samples simultaneously,” said Wendell Jones,
PhD, vice president of statistics and bioinformatics for Expression
Analysis.
That computing power becomes a commodity for the customer,
replacing expensive, on-site, server infrastructure. The data is
instead accessed through a browser, and there is no need to upload
or download huge fi les. “You can leave them on the cloud and
access in a streaming fashion via the cloud,” Jones said.
For small companies, the cloud-based service offers additional
advantages beyond saving on hardware and real estate. Startup
companies may not have the structure in place to operate Linux-
based genome software applications. A cloud-based storage and
analysis service allows those companies to use their own local
Windows or Macintosh desktop operating systems.

When Apple priced a smartphone above the $1,000 barrier for the first time two years ago, consumers balked.
Analysts worried the iPhone X would flop. USA Today joked that buyers might need to take out a mortgage to
purchase it.
But then the unexpected happened: people bought the device in such numbers thatiPhonerevenues reached a
record $62bn in the holiday quarter, up 13 per cent from the previous year, even as unit sales declined.
The revenue boost proved shortlived, but ahead of Apple’s annual hardware event on September 10, pricing experts
at the consultancy Simon-Kucher &Partners believe consumers are ready for the next milestone: a $2,000 iPhone.
In a new survey of 10,250 people across the US, Simon-Kucher found that 10 per cent of consumers in the market
for a new iPhone were willing to pay $2,000 for a top-range model. A quarter were willing to pay more than $1,800.
“There’s an iPhone for every purse,” said Madhavan Ramanujam, a partner at Simon-Kucher.
The survey, of course, was taken before Apple has actually revealed its new line-up of iPhones. The percentage of
customers willing to splash out the extra cash could be considerably lower if Apple fails to unveil any big
technology improvements that might command such a premium.
Days before the event, analysts say the smartphone looks set to underwhelm. While rivals such as Samsung push
ahead with foldable phones and ultrafast 5G connectivity, it is widely expected Apple will unveil three new iPhones
featuring the same screen sizes as current models but with upgraded processors and Apple’s first triple-lens
camera —exciting, perhaps, but something Huawei has had for nearly two years.

However, since I was diagnosed later in life, I spent the bulk of my school-age years developing strategies to deal with what I thought were typical memory issues that everyone faced. By the time I entered university I knew that unless I physically wrote out my notes with a pen on paper, I would not remember them because it was too easy for me to type notes while my mind was ‘elsewhere’ not paying attention. If I needed to remember a list of things, I needed to write it somewhere I would see it repeatedly, like the back of my hand or the leg of my jeans; a list on paper in my pocket was quickly forgotten – out of sight out of mind.
The working memory model, developed by Baddeley and Hitch in 1974, focuses on the idea that working memory has a limited capacity to store information temporarily as it processes where the information is to go, such as into long-term memory to action (Baddeley, 2003). The information that is gathered falls into different subsets of the overall system, determined by the central executive: the phonological loop (spoken or written information) or visuospatial sketchpad (visual or spatial information) or the episodic buffer (a general category) (Mcleod, 2012).
Issues with short-term memory loss as related to ADHD and the working memory model comes from reported deficits in the ability to control attention and an oversaturation of information input into the central executive (Ortega et al., 2020; Mcleod, 2012). This results in information input being disorganized and not always making it to the long-term memory. Meaning, my central executive may not function in the manner in which Baddeley (2003) suggests it should and it can get easily overwhelmed, resulting in the interference of informational input and encoding. Issues with short-term memory are often considered to be as a result of decay or interference, though decay is difficult to prove due to issues with testability and overall understanding of the cause (Jonides et al., 2008).
It was explained to me that many people who have unknowingly existed with ADHD throughout their lives have developed both conscious and unconscious strategies to manage any cognitive processing issues they deal with. I mentioned writing things down as a conscious strategy that I have implemented over the years. Another strategy that I’ve used and continue to practice is repeating someone’s name back to them when being introduced. The act of saying their name out loud forces my attention to be focused on that singular piece of information, allowing for a better chance of it being appropriately encoded and therefore retrieved. Another option is to use a multisensory strategy when possible, allowing for auditory and visual input of the same information. Saying someone’s name out loud and reading it on a name tag for example. I’ve also asked people in the past .

Such was Magna Carta, obtained by the Barons, sword in hand, from king John ... My name is Paul Amigh (pronounced Ah-me'), and I am a student in the PhD Public Health program at Walden University with a concentration in Epidemiology and a Teaching Assistant for the School of Health Sciences bachelor’s degree programs. I have obtained my entire college experience from Walden University, and it has changed my life and given me the desire to change the lives of others.
I am a U.S. Army veteran who graduated from the Academy of Health Sciences, attended vocational school in Central PA for my L.P.N. license, and hold a BS in Public Health with a concentration in Health Informatics from Walden University. I have spent my life in service of my country and others working as medic, a prison nurse, travel nurse, and as a charge nurse in an advanced Alzheimer’s unit. Feeling a greater need to do more for my community and improve the lives of others, it was my bachelor’s degree from Walden University that gave me the opportunity to work in education. I began teaching medical assisting, medical billing and coding, and health informatics classes at a local technical school in Central Pennsylvania, but I still felt I could do more.
I created a local chapter of SkillsUSA and began to train students in leadership and skills competitions related to their chosen vocational career path. It was here I discovered students just need someone to believe in them. Spending a few hours each day training and working with these students to improve upon the soft skills employers are looking for in communication, conflict resolution, critical thinking, and fundraising the entire cost of membership and travel, I created Champions at Work. Over the last six years, I have personally trained and mentored more than 50 Pennsylvania State Gold Medalists and trained fifteen National Medalists, with five of them becoming national champions!

worth of information has become terabytes or

The result is more and more users moving their data management
to the cloud or outsourcing it entirely.
Whereas large pharma companies may have the funds and
infrastructure to maintain dedicated servers for storage and analysis
of sequencing data, small companies—especially those that don’t
sequence continuously—are leading the migration to the cloud, and
service providers are springing up to meet the demand. Cost, secu-
rity, and convenience top the list of concerns for researchers looking
for a place to unload reams of data. However, once that transition is
made, features like collaborative data sharing, access to third-party
analysis apps, and patient privacy become more important.
Expression Analysis, a Quintiles Co., Durham, N.C., provides
genomic services to the pharma and biotech industry, as well as
academic, government, and foundation laboratories doing research
in molecular biology and genetics. It provides cloud computing
services through a partnership with Golden Helix Inc., Bozeman,
Mont. Its clients require computation-intensive services for gener-
ating the initial RNA or DNA sequence and also for cleaning up,
aligning, and analyzing the sequence.
According to Expression Analysis, a typical sequencing project
for 100 RNA samples would generate 300 to 400 GB worth of com-
pressed data, or 700 GB to 1 TB worth of data in total; and that’s
just for one experiment. For multiple experiments, the amount of
data can add up to astronomical quantities quite quickly.
Some applications, such as analyzing cancer samples, are even
more data intensive, because of the depth of coverage and the need
to sample multiple cells in the tumor.
“The cloud offers a full environment in order to do analysis on
a large number of samples simultaneously,” said Wendell Jones,
PhD, vice president of statistics and bioinformatics for Expression
Analysis.
That computing power becomes a commodity for the customer,
replacing expensive, on-site, server infrastructure. The data is
instead accessed through a browser, and there is no need to upload
or download huge fi les. “You can leave them on the cloud and
access in a streaming fashion via the cloud,” Jones said.
For small companies, the cloud-based service offers additional
advantages beyond saving on hardware and real estate. Startup
companies may not have the structure in place to operate Linux-

When Apple priced a smartphone above the $1,000 barrier for the first time two years ago, consumers balked.
Analysts worried the iPhone X would flop. USA Today joked that buyers might need to take out a mortgage to
purchase it.
But then the unexpected happened: people bought the device in such numbers thatiPhonerevenues reached a
record $62bn in the holiday quarter, up 13 per cent from the previous year, even as unit sales declined.
The revenue boost proved shortlived, but ahead of Apple’s annual hardware event on September 10, pricing experts
at the consultancy Simon-Kucher &Partners believe consumers are ready for the next milestone: a $2,000 iPhone.
In a new survey of 10,250 people across the US, Simon-Kucher found that 10 per cent of consumers in the market
for a new iPhone were willing to pay $2,000 for a top-range model. A quarter were willing to pay more than $1,800.
“There’s an iPhone for every purse,” said Madhavan Ramanujam, a partner at Simon-Kucher.
The survey, of course, was taken before Apple has actually revealed its new line-up of iPhones. The percentage of
customers willing to splash out the extra cash could be considerably lower if Apple fails to unveil any big
technology improvements that might command such a premium.

ahead with foldable phones and ultrafast 5G connectivity, it is widely expected Apple will unveil three new iPhones
featuring the same screen sizes as current models but with upgraded processors and Apple’s first triple-lens
camera —exciting, perhaps, but something Huawei has had for nearly two years.
“Apple doesn’t appear to have the lock on product innovation or enthusiasm that it used to have,” said Mark
Mahaney, tech analyst at RBC Capital Markets.

This transformation marked the beginning of an era defined by unprecedented territorial expansion, architectural marvels, and profound cultural influence.
The empire's roots lie in the city of Rome, founded, according to legend, by Romulus in 753 BCE. Over centuries, Rome evolved from a small settlement to a formidable republic, characterized by a complex political system with elected officials and checks on power. However, internal strife, class conflicts, and military ambitions paved the way for the end of the Republic. Julius Caesar’s dictatorship and subsequent assassination in 44 BCE created a power vacuum, leading to a civil war. Octavian, later Augustus, emerged victorious, heralding the Roman Empire’s birth.
Under Augustus, the empire experienced the Pax Romana, a 200-year period of relative peace and stability. Augustus reformed the military, established efficient administrative systems, and initiated grand construction projects. The empire's borders expanded, encompassing territories from Britain to Egypt and from Spain to the Euphrates. Roman legions, renowned for their discipline and engineering prowess, secured and maintained these vast territories, building roads, fortifications, and cities that facilitated control and integration.
The Roman Empire’s society was hierarchical, with a rigid class system. At the top were the patricians, wealthy elites who held significant political power. Below them were the plebeians, free citizens with limited political influence, and the vast numbers of slaves who formed the backbone of the economy. The family unit was central, governed by the paterfamilias, the male head who held absolute authority.
Culturally, the Romans were eclectic, absorbing and adapting elements from the civilizations they encountered, particularly the Greeks. Roman art, literature, and philosophy reflected this synthesis, creating a rich cultural tapestry. Latin, the Roman language, became the lingua franca of the Western world, influencing numerous modern languages.
Roman architecture and engineering achievements were monumental. They perfected the arch, vault, and dome, constructing enduring structures like the Colosseum, Pantheon, and aqueducts. These engineering marvels not only showcased Roman ingenuity but also served practical purposes, from public entertainment to water supply.

Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.
