3. WHAT This is year in arts, we were required to do two projects. One of them was to make 3-D letters, and the other required us to redesign logo’s. We had about half of the term to do the three D letter project and the other half to do the logo’s. we had to first make a plan or a rough draft of our work in our sketchbooks. Once we were ready, we had to make the final piece on an A2 paper. No peer review was done for this project. For the logo’s, we had to choose 4 logo’s that already exist and redesign them. We also had to choose and make our own logo. We were only allowed to make 3 by computer and 2 by hand. Once again, there was no peer editing involved. This year in drama, we had two main assignments. One of them was to do an improvisation, in front of the class, and the other was to make a play. Once again, we had half of one term to do the improvisation and the other half to do the play. For the improvisation, I couldn’t prepare. An improvisation is when you support your partner in a way that he can build up the act. This way, you wouldn’t get blocked or stop in the middle. The teacher had assigned us partners which we would do our improvisation with. She would then give us a topic and we would make a mini scene out of it. For the play, we had to make our own melodrama. The teacher had once again assigned us groups to work on this. We had about one week to write the script, two weeks to rehearse and the last week was for performances. After the performance, we were required to write a reflection. There was no peer editing involved in any of the projects. This year in music we have done one project, but are not done the other project. Our first project was to play a musical instrument that we could play. For the beginners, there was a choice of piano, xylophone and drums. If you played a musical instrument, then you could play it. One person in our class played a flute. Most people played piano or xylophone. The teacher had given us some musical pieces to choose from. These included, This Land is your Land, Good King Wenceslas and others. At the end, we were required to make a reflection. The time given for this project was about one month. The other half of the term, we spent making our music videos for a song called You can get it if You Really Want. In his task, we have to make a suitable video and edit it into a music video. No peer editing was involved in the past assignment .

4. SO WHAT For my grade in art, I wasn’t satisfied . Last year I had managed to get a 6 out of 7. this year I got a 5 out of 7. I was very disappointed. I believe I could have done better. I just think I didn’t put enough effort and just decided to slack off. I also did most of the things in the end. I had chosen these two main projects because it was the only things that we did. So it would be significant to talk about it. My artifact would be one of the logo’s I had recreated of Apple. In drama, I received a grade that I had hoped for. This grade was a 5 out of 7. I am not a very good actor, so this grade is very good. The only thing I could make better would probably be my developmental work book. Due to some computer problems, I was not able to print my process journals out. This had managed to bring my grade very low. If I had only done that part of my assignment, I would have probably managed to get a better grade. The artifact I will put for this will be my drama reflection which I had received full marks for. This artifact is significant for my wiki space. In music, I have not completed the term to receive my final mark. I have only received one, which was for my reflection. I had received a 5 out of 8 for that assignment. I believe I could have done better. I think I didn’t spend enough time on the reflection. But, I am still very happy because the teacher had said that I was the best xylophone player for the song This Land is your Land. The artifact I will use is my reflection. This is significant enough because it is the only thing I have done.

5. NOW WHAT The project in art had helped me polish my skills for the future. I have seen what the I.B. students are required to do. In the future, this skill will help me in my future years in this school, or in any school that teaches art. It has also taught me not to do things at the last minute. Because of my laziness, I had gotten a 5. last year I wasn’t lazy and I got a 6. so, this experience has thought me not to leave things for the last minute, because every grade counts. This year in drama has thought me a new skilled called improvising. This is essential, because know, I am able to take any conversation and I can increase, if I have to ever waste time. Another skill I learned was to create a melodrama. It was very fun. Also, I shouldn’t rely on my computer. I could have hand written them. But this also shows that I am lazy. In music I have learned two things. One of them is to play a new instrument and a song. I have never played or learned an instrument like the xylophone. It is very fun to play and very exciting as well. Another thing that I had learned was to play an instrument like a xylophone with two hands. I am right handed. This made it very difficult to play with my left hand. But, since I had to play with my left hand, I had to learn fast. I eventually learned how to play with my left hand. This skill can help me while playing piano as well.

7. ARTIFACT DRAMA Drama reflection Bilal Rana 8D 17.03.08 Me and my group have now performed our melodramas. We have also reviewed them, in order to write this reflection. I have learned many things about group work. One thing I have learned is that everyone should listen to each other. If you do no listen to your group members, then you will be left in awe. You wont have a clue about what is going on. Also, if you are not listening to you group members, that means you are being disrespectful. If you do not respect your fellow group members, then they will not respect you. This show’s that you are not social and that you don’t like working with others, besides your friends. Another thing that I learned about group work is that there should be only one person talking at a time. If there are multiple conversations going on, then everything would be a mess. Most importantly, you should interact with your group. We should help one another, so no one is left behind. For example, many people were just sitting there doing nothing in our group. Many people still didn’t know their lines. Some of the people in our group learned their lines in the last minute. 8. ARTIFACT MUSIC Music Bilal Rana 8D May 4, 2008. MUSIC RFLECTION I had found at least two things that were difficult about my piece. The first thing I found difficult were the bass notes. Even on the piano, I have trouble playing bass notes. On the xylophone I thought it would be easy, but it was harder. What made it harder was the fact that my piece was only 4 notes. But the G note in the second line made it harder. I would wither forget to play it, or play the wrong note. Since I had to switch my attention to the other side of the xylophone, I had to figure out where the g note was. Also, after I played the G note, I had to figure out where the C, D, E, and F notes were. This predicament would make my performance terrible. The second thing I found most difficult doesn’t really relate to the piece, but more to me. I had found it hard to play with both hands. Since my right hand is dominant, it is hard for me to do anything with my left. Playing with both hands was difficult. As I would strike the notes with my left hand, it didn’t make a loud sound. This made the music sound horrible, because with my right hand, I was able to make a loud clear sound, but with my left I made a soft sound. This made it very difficult for me to play my piece. To overcome my difficulties, I tried many ways to correct myself. To overcome my bass note playing problem, I would automatically place my hand over the G note after playing the last note for the first hand, with my left hand. But, before I could do that, I made sure to know where exactly the G note was. I had messed up many times, thinking the A note was a G note. But, as I practiced with all my effort, I soon was able to play the G note. It took me about a lesson to overcome the problem of the G note. To overcome the problem of playing with my left hand, I came up with the perfect solution for it. I decided to play the whole song, with my left hand.
