The Battle of Ivry and the Surrender of
Mantes
1598
In this fun and lovable, romantic
painting we capture so many details in
its appreciation. There are the
wonderful rich, warm colors which are
combined with heightened and
lightened tones (such as the dark
drapery, the rich red overcoat, the
gold colors of the dress, the light yellow
wall color. Also there are the intricate
floor designs/square patterned. These
draw the viewer attention so that we
just overlook the lines within the
painting, thus seemingly being flawless.
Card Players in an Opulent Interior
Circa 1663-65
This again, is a painting with
French history and fillings of
couples in love. The colors in this
painting are more blended with
hues of light blue for the sky, the
green for the trees and grass are
darker. It „s completion iof
secontary colors evoke the idea of
a warm but hazy day. Yet as
with the couples love, the richness
and strokes are even and
complementary to each other.
There‟s a feeling of moving art
even upon the early stages of this
wonderful painting.
