This artifact is a beautiful silver and gold basin decorated with bronze and silver metals, held by a symmetrically carved wood tripod stand. It was made for Napoleon Bonaparte's chamber in the Palais des Tuileries in Paris between 1800 and 1804. A related vase from 1768-70 is decorated with sculpted turtledoves and painted navy blue with a miniature picture in the center. A large bas-relief porcelain sculpture from 1598 depicts the Battle of Ivry and measures six by seven meters, originally placed above a fireplace at the Château de Fontainebleau.
