Current population of the world is 7 billion and
by 2050 it will be increased by 2 billion.
The production of food will not meet the
demands if the present methods of food
distribution are used.
So, our steps to tackle the problem are:
1. Controlling the waste food.
2. Increasing small scale production
3. Motivating people to save food through
gamification
 We can save the wastage of food by
controlling the market.
 Similar to ration shops(as for the BPL
population) every family of four will get One
Bag(15kg) of Wheat flour and 2 kg of sugar
etc at normal prices.
 But if they exceed their requirements , they
will have to pay extra money and these things
will be given to them at a higher cost.
Target people: Above poverty line population
 Every family depending upon their consumption will be given a
certain amount of wheat flour, rice e.g 10-20 kgs per month
whose records will be on some transaction cards and it will be
necessary for a person to carry those transaction cards when
they go out for buying Food.
 Depending on the size of the family, each house will be provided
with transaction cards just like ATM cards and whenever they will
visit a store on every transaction they will know how much of the
monthly food balance they have i.e the food which will be
provided on normal costs.
 On exceeding any thing such as sugar or pulses it will alarm you
that you cant buy it on this cost, please pay more i.e. after you
exceed the limit you can buy food at higher prices.
 For every month your intake will be noticed.
 Looking at the intake and showing it to the
concerned government office, you can
increase your monthly intake by paying a
little more charge for increasing the food
limit as food tax.
In this way we can control the intake of the
families and save the wastage of food.
Why only Rice, wheat are rationed?
Because farming of these things are done on a
large scale and the consumption of these
things is more all over the world irrespective
of the season, weather, culture, nation.
“providing the necessities , buying luxuries”
Target people: the above poverty line population.
Practically speaking, usually we all eat food whenever we
want to , even if the body doesn’t demands for it. So we
have people having Breakfast-snacks-lunch-snacks-
dinner-beverages as their diet chart and we have people
on the other hand dying because of hunger just because
food can’t reach them. Controlling the waste food will have
a balance between the two and if saved food is surplus
enough, food can also be provided to the needy who can’t
buy it(through NGO’s)
.. “food , the thing we are earning for ! Lets don’t waste it “
 Growing demand for high
quality, microbe free, medicinal and
aromatic plants.
 Hydroponics is the process of growing plants
without soil. In Hydroponics the root systems
are fed with water containing the
necessary nutrients for the plants growth and
development.
 Hydroponics comes from the Latin language
and it means working water.
"hydro" means "water"
"ponos" means "labor".
Soil less Growing!
 Faster Growth- Hydroponics works by automatically
getting the complete nutrient mixture and water to the
roots without drowning the plant. Plants get everything
they need all the time, so they do not waste growing a lot
of roots or searching for nutrients.
 No Weeds or Pests- Gardening without soil eliminates
the weeds do you do not need weed sprays. Also, because
there are no weeds, there will be no backache from a hoe
or rototiller. Since most pests live and breed in the
soil, you do not need to use pesticides or other toxic
chemicals.
 Great Plant Quality and Taste- Since the plants get
everything it needs, all the time, it will reward you
with great taste, strong and fast growth, and overall
plant quality
 Grow in Any Condition- Systems may be
constructed and used in any location from space to
under water exploration.
open field
• Farmer has no control
on environment.
• Yields are not
accurately predicted.
• Budgeting is
ineffective.
• Cannot always ensure
adequate aeration of
the root zone.
Soil less/hydroponics
• Gives grower effective
control over the
environment.
• Yields are very
predictable.
• Budgeting is easier,
• Root zone aeration as
well as adequate
porosity of medium is
ensured.
• Irrigation water in field grown operations cannot be
effectively recycled.
• Hydroponics can reduce irrigation water usage by
70% to 90% by recycling the run-off water.
• As water becomes scarce, and important as a
resource, the use of hydroponics and other water
saving technologies is needed now and is poised to
increase in time.
You see and ask “Why”
I believe and say “Why Not?”

 Reduced water consumption
 Improved Produce Quality
 Increased Yields and Growth Rates
 Longer Shelf Life
 Less labour inputs .
 Higher Value Crops
 Extended Growing Season
 Happier Workers
 Lower Labour Costs
 Pests and Diseases
 No Soil – No Problem
 Environment Control
 Market Control
Target people: The below poverty line and
middle class population.
 Hydroponics is the best weapon against food
scarcity.
 It can be performed in all the waste areas e.g
deserts.
 At homes- kitchen garden.
 It’s important for people to not only
understand and be aware of the measures
that can cater to the increasing food demand
but also to adopt them. The masses need to
be engaged and drawn into the cause to
make the ideas on paper alive!
 The approach we are using for this is
“Gamification”.
 Gamification is a concept which introduces
game elements and game design techniques
in non game context.
 It is a hot new business concept with many of
the world’s most admired companies signing
on.
 To make the everyday tasks more engaging
we can incorporate the game elements into
the workplace.
 Corporate giants like
Microsoft, Nike, Samsung, Deloitte, eBay, Fou
rsquare, Dell, Universal music are already
gamifying.
 It has reportedly increased online
merchandise sales, overall traffic on the site
and social involvement of more than 40
million users for these companies.
 Games and Growing crops, it’s hard to relate the
two. One word for that, Farmville!
 All of us have now and then been addicted to this
social network game produced by Zynga. Here we
used to grow different crops, harvest them and
earn points in the firm of coins.
 What kept us motivated to grow more was the
increasing income and commodities which we
could buy from that.
 We will implement the game elements such as
score points, leader boards and badges to
increase people’s involvement in our project!
 People need to be engaged in the practice of
using hydroponics for growing crops in their
homes to increase the production with no use of
land and soil. For this a community based score
board shall be maintained.
 With the use of a mobile application people can
update the crops that they have successfully
grown with the help of this technique.
 Each crop shall have its own game points which
will earn the person growing them the respective
points and thus maintain a scoreboard for the
community.
 The person leading the scoreboard shall be given
the badge of “The Mayor”. This will motivate the
rest of the people in the community to work
harder to earn the title.
 To enhance it further the local NGOs or
Community based Organizations (CBOs) can be
collaborated in the project to provide incentives
to those showing maximum involvement
The more crops that’ll be grown, the more will be
there to be distributed!
