- 1. Textual Analysis of Film Trailers You need to fully understand the conventions of film trailers - and prove to the examiner that you do – before making your own. You must analyse at least three film trailers from the genre you are going to make in detail, with links to the film’s website/Twitter feed etc embedded in the blog. The trailers themselves need to be embedded in your blog from YouTube with written description. For each film trailer comment on: Mise-en-scene • Connotations (props, locations, people) • Iconography Camera • The camera shots used (Close ups, long shots etc) • The camera movements (zoom, pan, tilt, track) Encoding/Decoding: • Audience reception- preferred reading of the text • Audience gratifications and pleasures offered • Representation of groups • Dominant Ideologies Editing • Pace of shots; continuity editing; montage sequences; special effects; the transitions used Genre • How the sub-genres are signified
