TEXTILES
Historically Kolkata has been at the centre of
various textiles activities and was considered
the Hosiery Capital of India. Kolkata still has a
very vibrant eco-system to produce garments
which is largely an unorganized sector. Large
availability of skilled workers could be key to
revitalise this industry as the industry leader
countrywide.
Strengths
•	Dedicated parks on textiles and readymade
garments
•	Adoption of modern technology in the field
of weaving, dyeing, finishing etc.
