Jesse Cedillo is a general studies major hoping to transfer to UNT this fall. Through learning about political issues in Texas, Jesse was surprised to learn that the death penalty is used infrequently now and drugs for lethal injection are running out. Voter turnout is very low across Texas and the country. Texas government has taken steps to ensure it remains limited. Third party support in Texas is larger than expected. The main education problem in Texas is lack of funding and resources for teachers and schools, which hurts students' success and the state overall. Due to population changes, Texas could become less reliably Republican as more Democrats move there from other states.
