Misty Schultz is a general education major transferring towards psychology. She is motivated to participate more in politics to make the future better for her children. She teaches her children about voting to show them their voice can be heard. Schultz was surprised to learn interest groups have power in numbers and influence leaders. She also learned the death penalty is costly but popular. Fracking poses risks to the environment and water supply that could impact future generations. Texas has the largest judicial system and practices the most executions. It also influences federal policy on border control and immigration due to its large immigrant workforce and undocumented population. Schultz plans to get more involved in politics through interest groups and apply lessons about overfunding prisons versus education
