•   According to the Higher Education Quality Council of
    Ontario (2012):
      •   The number of recent immigrant adult learners attending post-
          secondary institutions in Ontario is growing


      •   Many recent immigrant adult learners face barriers, including:
            •   Limited language proficiency
            •   Financial constraints
            •   Insufficient knowledge of the Canadian post-secondary education
                system


      •   To help immigrant adult learners overcome barriers, learning
          institutions must:
            •   Identify this group
            •   provide specialized programs to this group
