Significant amount of research and development has been made in the field of core network and it operates in hundreds Gigabits per second (Gbps) speed currently. But on seeing the growth in bandwidth demand in the access network which is exploding day by day, the only promising solution is to upgrade the access network. So it is essential to have an efficient access network that can operate at high functional speeds to support differentiated services like Video on Demand (VOD), High Definition TV, video conferencing, Telemedicine, Uploading and Downloading jumbo files. Apart from these access network always been sensitive to cost and geographical region of coverage it can handle. So internet service providers will have to make a tradeoff between capital expenditure (CAPEX), operational expenditure (OPEX) and geographical region of coverage.
There are mainly five types of access network APON, BPON, GPON, EPON and 10G-EPON. APON provides 622 Mbps of downstream bandwidth and 155 Mbps of upstream. GPON was the advanced version of the BPON and support at a rate of 2.444 Mbps and 1.42 Mbps in downstream and upstream data rate. EPON has symmetry of 1Gbps of upstream and downstream rates. EPON is totally data-centric based on voice, video and data. 10G-EPON is capable of providing broadband access to large number of customers in metropolitan area. Due to the advancement in the optical technology, 10G-EPON (IEEE 803.2av) provides 1Gbps and 10Gbps upstream and downstream data rate with distance more than 20 km.

Ausgrid is investing more than $1 billion in the Sydney CBD electricity network over five years to 2014. Ausgrid's Sydney CityGrid project involves constructing new substations, replacing and upgrading high-voltage cables and constructing a new tunnel to link into our existing network of CBD cable tunnels. These tunnels connect to form an 8 km ring under Sydney's CBD that interconnects Ausgrid's substations.
To provide a GRN P-25 coverage solution into these tunnels for Ausgrid's maintenance staff presented a challenge. Coverage is provided by utilising 'radio over fibre' repeater technology which rebroadcasts the NSW Government Radio Network from two dedicated base station sites located in two of Ausgrid's substations. Radiating cable, fixed to the ceiling of the tunnel, distributes the radio signals to the user in the tunnel, providing a method of communications deep underneath Sydney's CBD, where previously there was no way of communicating with the outside world.

Case StudiesVerizon Wireless has recently partnered with Telecom
Infrastructure Corp. to bring America’s largest and most
reliable 4G LTE network to one of the most remarkable buildings
in New York City, 4 World Trade Center.
Business
Challenge
Located on the
southeast corner of
the historic 16-acre
World Trade Center
site in downtown
Manhattan, the new
4 World Trade
Center (4WTC) building was
designed by the esteemed
Pritzker-Prize winning
architect Fumihiko Maki. The
978 foot tall building offers
unparalleled office and retail
space to one of the busiest
and most remarkable
districts in New York City.
Verizon Wireless recognizes
the superior quality and
craftsmanship of Telecom
Infrastructure’s previous
installation endeavors and
therefore contracted
Telecom Infrastructure to
provide the project
management and the
physical installation expertise
required to complete this
expansive installation
project. Together, Verizon
Wireless and Telecom
Infrastructure have supplied
4 World Trade Center with
the fastest and most reliable
4G LTE network in the world.
Solution
The most optimal way to
achieve flawless indoor
cellular network coverage for
such a large structure is by
utilizing what’s called a
Distributed Antenna System
(DAS). There are many
manufacturers currently
providing DAS technologies
but TEKO is consistently
demonstrating its position on
the cutting edge. Naturally,
Verizon Wireless has

implemented a Teko DAS
platform into 4 WTC’s
infrastructure. DAS
technology employs an array
of antennas, strategically
placed around confined (and
oftentimes open) spaces.
The Teko DAS Platform has
more to offer than just a
sleek design and an
affordable price tag, the
remote administration and
spectral assessment
features of the Teko DAS
platform ensures quick and
easy commissioning and
accurate remote monitoring
of the system.
Results
In its entirety, the system
designed for 4 WTC contains
30 optimally placed Teko
Remote Units (RU) fed by
ten thousand feet of fiber
optic cable, and around 12
miles of half inch coaxial
cable feeding over 720
strategically placed antennas
on all 73 floors of the
building. Having already
completed dozens of DAS
projects in the New York
metropolitan area and
around the country, Telecom
Infrastructure is no stranger
to challenging cabling
endeavors and has
ultimately completed the
entire 4 WTC DAS Project in
a record-breaking five month
period, further solidifying
their position as one of the
most revered
telecommunications

Business Objective
Convert this high profile building in the middle
of Times Square from a no cell service venue
to a network of antennas to boost mobile
broadband coverage and provide full service
from the sub cellars to the roof for the tenants.
Business Challenge
A project of this size and scale would normally
take a minimum of 6 months to complete the
schedule for this one was 6 weeks. This
schedule required multiple teams of qualified
technicians working on simultaneous floors to
meet the timelines. The work had to be done
after normal business hours and with a
publishing company as a primary tenant, the
business hours were typically much longer
than normal.
The technology of Distributed Antenna
Systems was still relatively new which meant
finding a quality installation company could be
a difficult task. As wireless technology
continues to become major part of our
everyday lives, it is of the highest importance
to have an installation company that will ensure
your everyday life will not be disrupted. With
time and location being an issue Telecom
knew there couldn’t be any time wasted and
there was no room for error.
Solution
It is a good thing Telecom is located in the city
that never sleeps. To accommodate the
restrictions of work hours, Telecom had to
assign their staff to start at 5pm and work 12
hour days. In the short time allocated, Telecom
assigned a large number of their staff to this
project. Everyone was willing to work reverse
normal work hours, take on longer shifts and
work well into the morning because that is what
it took to get the job done. The actual
coordination of this project and schedule were
key in this process. The time was so
consolidated, planning had to be perfectly
executed for more than the normal number of
craft to fully use time as efficiently as possible.
Results
The impressive result of this project was 700
antennas were put up in 6 weeks. The job was
done seamlessly in a quarter of the time than a
normal DAS project. The numbers speak for
themselves but more importantly all the people
in the building speak… on their cell phones
with full service. As we say in New York “Take
your time, hurry up!”

Business Objective: The
Prudential Center
Home to the New Jersey Devils and host to
many large scale events, the Prudential
Center Arena was seeking to offer a greater
experience to its customers in the form of
the reliable high speed cell phone services
provided by distributed antenna systems
(DAS).This entailed installing the necessary
equipment to enable service throughout the
700,000 square foot stadium.
Results
Due to the overall team work, the DAS job
was completed as smoothly as possible and
in time for Media Day. Initial reports from the
client indicate the system worked great,
handling the capacity seamlessly.
Business Objective: The
Sheraton Hotel Times Square
The goal of this project was to convert the cellular
infrastructure of this prominent hotel to a neutral
host distributed antenna system (DAS), allowing
for a reliable BYOD (bring your own device)
atmosphere. The project was to be completed in
time for the swarms of guests and NFL employees
that the hotel would accommodate during Super
Bowl XLVIII.
Results
The result of this ambitious cabling feat was none
other than a complete and utter success, followed
immediately by a devastating defeat of the Denver
Broncos by the Seattle Seahawks; a game that
was talked about intensely throughout the hotel via
full bars...of 4G cellular service.

TECH TIP
A short history of Ethernet — Since 1985, when
10-Mbps Ethernet was first standardized, demand
for bandwidth and speed has grown steadily
alongside increasingly high-performance
applications—thus the standardization of 100-
Mbps Fast Ethernet in 1995; Gigabit Ethernet in
1998, and in the ratification of 10-Gigabit Ethernet
in June 2002. Each step forward represents a
tenfold increase in performance. 10-Gigabit
Ethernet is a logical extension of previous
Ethernet networks, which are the predominant
technology for high-performance LANs.
40 and 100 gigabit standards are here now!

President's
Message
A LETTER FROM
ED DONELAN, RCDD
Hi and welcome to Telecom
Infrastructure Corp. My name is
Ed Donelan, as president and owner, I
am glad to share our story. When I
started our company in 1986 my dream
was to connect people all over the
world using technology. I also wanted
to build a first class company that really
invests in our people and our
customers. As a result many of our
clients chose to take the journey with us
and they have remained with us for
over two decades.
We provide structured cabling and
wireless systems integration. Our
services consist of fiber, copper and
wireless design/build and project
management for commercial buildings
on a national scale.
Our service is exceptional in that we
consistently under promise and over
deliver all the latest technology
systems.
Centered here in the heart of the
greatest city in the world, we cater to a
select group of clientele and represent
them on local and national projects.
These projects demand a very positive
customer experience however complex
and challenging things may become.
We focus on helping you identify your
needs to maximize your return on
investment, while providing efficient,
effective productivity for your
employees and future proofing your
infrastructure.
I want to encourage you to look into the
future and predict the next technology
change. That is what we do every day,
believe me; technology is constantly
changing and this industry is making
older systems obsolete every day.
In closing I ask you to consider seeking
out the leaders of technology change
and ensuring you have the right team
members in place to support all your
technology needs. Our team is trained
to become your partner to ensure your
success.
Thank you for considering us!
