2. Tele-Products Ltd started in York in 1988 as a manufacturer of telecom test
instruments.
Our business is the design, manufacture, marketing and sale of test,
monitoring, measurement & telecoms equipment and related goods and
services.
We are proud to have contributed to the
economic life of the city over these last 25
years.
We have a policy of manufacturing all our
products locally where possible. A majority of
our suppliers are within a 50 mile radius of York.
3. Everyone works for Tele-Products Ltd. All our suppliers
know us as Tele-Products as does the bank and HMRC.
We use Crucible Technologies and First Stop Safety as
trading names as we sell our products into very different
markets.
Why three company names and logos?

Set, our very first product launched in 1992.
5. From the Archives - Busy in the workshop and a press cutting from the York

the user can reprogram this number.
Telecom test instruments
Since 1988, we have launched more than 20 different telecom test instruments.
Although many of these are now obsolete, they are still in service throughout
the world. Here are 2 that are still sold by Crucible Technologies.

promote our telecom products. These included
telephone conversation recorders, headsets and
telephone systems.
The most popular of this range is the CTI Meteor which
presents Caller ID information from the telephone line to
the serial port of the PC. This is mostly used by
companies wanting to identify the caller from their
telephone number.
For example, many takeaways use our product in their

Crucible Technologies is 15 years old this year

9. Branching out into energy monitoring
At the same time as we have made many
products obsolete, we have constantly looked out
for new markets to enter.
The Meter Logger 100 is a simple-to-use
interface device which converts the pulse outputs
from up to 3 utility meters into both a graphical
display on a webpage and formatted
downloadable data.
Any utility meters with a volt free pulse output can
be connected to the ML100 and the 3 input facility
means that for example gas, electricity and water
usage can be simultaneously monitored.
10. First Stop Safety is 10 years old this year
We entered the Portable Appliance Testing
market in 2002 with our PAT-IT tester. This
was so successful that we formed First Stop
Safety “For everything to do with Portable
Appliance Testing”.
In 2007 we launched the battery powered
BattPAT to replace the PAT-IT.
Last year the MemoryPAT was launched.
This included a display and memory to store
the results of 2000 tests.
11. Responding to customer demand
In supplying testers, we realised that much of the
training available was of poor quality with very little
opportunity for delegates to gain practical experience.
We responded to this by offering training courses about
all aspects of Portable Appliance Testing around the
country. These courses cut through many of the myths
surrounding this and presents common sense, practical
solutions.
To complement these courses, we have produced
training resources such as books and DVDs.
