InDesign
• InDesign is the program I used to produce my magazine pages
• It is a mac OS only program
• It has many simple and advanced tools to help you easily
create designs for many things including magazines.
During the creation of my preliminary task cover, I had to use InDesign.
This was my first experience with the program, so I did not know how
to make full use of all of its features. I only knew of the basic features
such as Layers, text boxes and inserting images
This time, I already had a grasp of the basic features of the program.
Since I had much longer to complete the task, I had a chance to
experiment with the more advanced features. I learnt how to add
effects to my images and text which made them look more original
and stand out more.
Photoshop
• Adobe’s Photoshop is an image editing tool
• It has many advanced features to edit
photographs and other images
• It’s not very easy to use for beginners due to
the huge amount of buttons and tools.
I did not make use of Photoshop during the creation of my preliminary
task so the only experience I had with it prior to my music magazine
was a few years ago when I briefly used it in year 8.
Because of this, I did not risk spending too much time experimenting
with Photoshop’s features. I used it to do a basic edit on the image I
used for my double page spread. It was not used for anything else.
Internet resources
• Blogger, Prezi, Slideshare etc
• Websites I used to help present the research
behind my magazine.
Blogger I used during my preliminary task. That was my first time using
it but that didn’t really matter because it is a very simple website to
use. This time was no different. I had to post updates often on my blog
to show progress in my magazine and research to do with my
magazine, such as target audience research
Prezi I had not used before so it is new to me. It allows the user to
create more visually appealing PowerPoints. I learnt that it can be
annoying, unhelpful and sluggish at times, but the end results do look
good.
Slideshare was useful for uploading PowerPoints I had made for my
research onto my blog. It was very simple and did not give me any
hassle.
