This document defines and describes various technology tools that will be used in an online course: 1) It defines a CMS (course management system) as a platform for managing website content and notes that Blackboard CourseSites will be used as the CMS. 2) It explains that videos, online assessments like surveys and exams, discussion forums, and wikis will also be utilized as part of the course. 3) Wikis allow for sharing of ideas, content, videos, links and pictures online.

Rouse (2011) defined CMS as a platform used
to manage the content of a website.

» CourseSites is an interactive teaching and
learning platform that provides the creation
and facilitation of online courses (CourseSites
by Blackboard, 2012).

audio in digitalized file.

5. » An online assessment is the process of
collecting information about someone or
something via computer.
» Types of assessments could be surveys,
examinations, portfolios, evaluations, testing,
etc.

6. » Online settings that learners use to engage in
discussion activities.
» An example of a discussion activity could be
questions and answers forum.

7. » Wikis are spaces on the Web where you can
share ideas and content such as videos, links,
