The document discusses an app that was developed to celebrate a year of government support for Tech City, a cluster of digital, tech and creative companies in East London. The app outlines government policy supporting innovation over the last year and upcoming changes, shows Tech City events, and public feedback. It includes an interactive map of companies in Tech City and their connections, as well as augmented reality features like animated business cards to greet the Prime Minister during the launch. The goal was for the app to provide updated information to investors, talent, and local companies as events are planned and policies change.

Title: 21st Century Communities for 21st Century Citizens
As Bloomington-Normal and McLean County gear up to redefine our economy, we must recognise the drastic effects of technology on the future of our cities. And the future is now. Technology integration is especially challenging as it is ever evolving and impacting a wide array of services and infrastructure. More than ever before, many different organizations - public and private - will need to come together to help transform our cities to 21st century communities.
During the keynote, you will hear about how Kansas City, Missouri is collaborating with community, business, academic and technology stakeholders to integrate ever evolving technologies to create an open government and improve citizen services and engagement.
This years topic speaks to the core of BN Advantage - collaborative economic development efforts to create a vibrant and sustainable regional economy in Bloomington-Normal and McLean County.

Moving from A-B is slowly being revolutionised through data. Car-sharing and ride-hailing are just the beginning. Thousands of connected devices are currently monitoring data points, and although stand-alone analysis can be useful, true innovation occurs when these data sets are combined to transform into something new.
In the near future, IoT data explosion and the API revolution will collide to change city planning, urban movement and the role of the car in the 21st century.
- First off, we set out to understand what big data means in the context of transportation, answering questions such as what is it, where is it coming from, and what can you do with it.
- Next, we'll zoom out and apply these learning to transport innovation in a wider context, considering how it will influence concepts such as urban movement, social mobility, and quality of life.
- Finally, we'll discuss the relationship between open data and innovation.

"One of the foundational pillars of smart cities is data. Data is both, an enabler and force multiplier and it fuels the smart city, like gasoline to an engine. Data is also a precious resource for cities; valuable in countless ways. Why is data so important? Two reasons: 1) Faster pattern recognition; and 2) Smarter resource allocation. Distilling those down even further, let’s call it: Awareness + Action. All cities collect and use data, but the push toward smart cities is to utilize data in ways that help cities become not only increasingly more informed (Awareness), but increasingly more responsive (Action). Every city will eventually become a smart city in the same manner that nearly every phone has become a smart phone. It’s not that we had “dumb phones” before, or “dumb cities” for that matter. Rather, the “smart” moniker denotes the ability of the device or in this case a city/community to utilize cross-domain information to deliver a richer, more robust experience."

Within 48 hours, we developed a Google Assistant prototype, which makes it easier for the citizens of Ingolstadt to report damage to the city. In the end we finished with our prototype 2nd place of over 20 teams.

These days, in our industry, two words have the highest exposure rate. One is 5G, and the other is a smart city.
The Internet of Things, cloud computing, big data, artificial intelligence, these new concepts have emerged one after another, promoting the entire society to accelerate toward informatization, digitization, and intelligence.
Big bosses from all walks of life are keeping a close eye on technological trends, hoping to take the lead in introducing technology, improving production efficiency, and realizing digital transformation.
As a result, various hotspot terms have emerged one after another, such as 5G smart factory, 5G smart park, 5G smart agriculture, 5G smart shopping malls, and so on.
The smart city originated in the media field, which refers to the use of various information technologies or innovative concepts to open up and integrate the city's systems and services to improve the efficiency of resource utilization, optimize city management and services, and improve the quality of life of citizens.
This data sheet from Encanvas provides a helpful overview of digital city requirements for an application fabric (or private cloud PaaS if you prefer) and how Encanvas meets these needs.
The Citizen, Not the Government, Should Be at the Center of Smart City Design. Learn what defines a smart city, how to build a smart city, and who're the leading brands.
The City of Toronto, like many other municipalities, invest in incubators and small business development on one hand, but fail to give them much business through contract bidding on the other. Their lengthy, time-consuming procurement process largely favours the 800lbs gorillas, leaving many new start-ups without the benefit of the biggest buyer in town's attention. People wonder why City functions lack innovation and progress. We unearth the forensics behind it all...enjoy!
Smart cities are the wave of the future. IoT is also the wave of the future. Together, smart cities that incorporate and take advantage of IoT technology will be at the leading edge of new urban environments.

185 years Banking Technologies by Wind AmirasWind Amiras
Technology is everything, real-time payments as the latest technological innovation poised to shake up retail banking and the whole commercial sector. And yet a paradigm shift of this magnitude relies on a chain of smaller advances, ranging from improved core processing to tokenization and ever more reliable network security.
Staying abreast of the latest technologies is a huge challenge, because, for most bankers, technology isn’t their primary job. The timeline on the next few pages captures some of the upheavals bankers have already encountered and hints at even more seismic changes to come.
Within the last five years, we’ve seen an influx of new technology such as we’ve never seen before And the advances are going to continue to come quickly.
This presentation covers some of the main aspects of the current smart city discussions: definitions, market drivers, analyses and trends as well as best practice examples of what the concept of smart city means in practice. It examines the importance of using data and software to improve and optimise infrastructure (including lighting) performance. It also gives an overview of barriers and obstacles to smart city deployment, and offer some resources and links for further reading.

Neuro-symbolic is not enough, we need neuro-*semantic*Frank van Harmelen
Neuro-symbolic (NeSy) AI is on the rise. However, simply machine learning on just any symbolic structure is not sufficient to really harvest the gains of NeSy. These will only be gained when the symbolic structures have an actual semantics. I give an operational definition of semantics as “predictable inference”.
All of this illustrated with link prediction over knowledge graphs, but the argument is general.

Kubernetes & AI - Beauty and the Beast !?! @KCD Istanbul 2024Tobias Schneck
As AI technology is pushing into IT I was wondering myself, as an “infrastructure container kubernetes guy”, how get this fancy AI technology get managed from an infrastructure operational view? Is it possible to apply our lovely cloud native principals as well? What benefit’s both technologies could bring to each other?
Let me take this questions and provide you a short journey through existing deployment models and use cases for AI software. On practical examples, we discuss what cloud/on-premise strategy we may need for applying it to our own infrastructure to get it to work from an enterprise perspective. I want to give an overview about infrastructure requirements and technologies, what could be beneficial or limiting your AI use cases in an enterprise environment. An interactive Demo will give you some insides, what approaches I got already working for real.

2. Tech City
Tech City is a cluster of digital,
tech and creative companies in
East London. To celebrate a year
of government support for Tech
City, David Cameron visited the
area on the 10th of November.
3. Tech City – how to convey this information?
Normally a policy paper is
produced for these events, but it
was more appropriate in this
case to develop an app for
investors, talent, and local
companies. With colleagues at
Number 10 and a Tech City
SME, Mobile Roadie, the app
was developed.
4. Tech City – the launch
The app outlines gov policy to support
innovation and technology over the last
year, as well as upcoming changes. It
also shows Tech City events, and what
people are seeing about Tech City. As
an app rather than a static document,
new information can be added to the
app as events are planned and policy
changes happen.
5. Tech City – the map
It includes a map, developed by
Charles Armstrong, which plots
the companies in Tech City and
measures the web of interaction
between them by analysing the
social media streams.
6. Tech City – augmented reality
It also includes Augmented Reality. For
the November 10th launch we worked
with Aurasma to animate some of the
business cards live and give a surprise
greeting to the Prime Minister, triggered
by the Trampery logo. Going forward Tech
City will be using augmented reality to
showcase a guided tour / visitor
experience using geolocated data.
