6. Autonomy Group Key Differences
Traditional workgroup- two or more people working together to
achieve a shared goal. Workers are responsible for doing their own work or
task, they have no direct responsibility or control of the work.
Employee involvement team - provides advice and make
suggestions to management concerning specific issues.
Semi autonomous workgroup - has the authority to make
decisions and solve problems related to the major tasks of producing a
product or service.
Self managing team a team - manages and controls all of the major
tasks of producing a product or service.
Self designing team - has the characteristics of self-management
team but also, controls team design, work tasks, and team management.
9. Cross Functional Teams
Composed of employees from different functional areas of
the organization.
Attack problems from multiple perspectives to generate more
ideas and alternative solutions.
Can be used almost anywhere in an organization, and are
often used in conjunction with matrix and product
organizational structures.

10. Composed of geographically and or organizationally
disburse coworkers who used telecommunication and
information technologies to accomplish an organizational
task
HOW ARE THEY USED?
Employees can work with each other regardless of physical location,
time zone, or organizational affiliation. The principal advantage is their
flexibility.
Since the team does not need a physical location, it is much easier to
include other stakeholders.

11. Created to complete specific one-time projects or tasks within a
limited time
Project teams are often used to develop new products, roll out new
information systems, or build new factories or offices.
