The Teacher’s Chief Responsibility
• The teacher ought to guide the learner in all aspects of life (mind,
character and personality)
• Respect the confidential nature of information concerning each child.
• Refrain from using child for labour.
Professional code of conduct
• Prepare Schemes of work on a termly basis
• Prepare lesson plans
• Evaluate learners’ work promptly
• Prepare remedial learning for struggling children
• Teach with honesty, diligence and regularity.
• Teach with objectivity regardless of your political, race , tribe, sex
• Follow the set school programmes
• Allow Headteacher any other delegated staff to supervise.
Professional Code of conduct
• Use proper channels of communication
• Maintain proper records of learner’s progress
• Not engage in private or personal activities when he/she is meant to
be in class.
• Not trade or transact during school time.
• Not bring a pet or baby at school
• Not be part of a riot any activity which could affect the school
negatively.
• Not ask for money from pupils in relation to his/her duties
Professional code of conduct
• Conduct lessons without discrimination regardless of the child’s race,
sex, tribe, place of birth
• Keep safe custody of school property under his/ her watch.
Personal Conduct
• Decency in dress code: No minis, tights, sleeveless tops
• Decency in speech: Use appropriate language
• Personal Presentation: How you carry yourself matters: We are open
books. Carry yourself with respect and you will be respected.
• Neat outlook: kempt hair, kempt beard, nails short, good breath.
• Women’s hair: no colour, well organized hair not allover the place
• Stay professional even when working with your spouse or future
spouse
