We must be digital, we must innovate. we must indeed : the next startup ready to « uberize » us is just around the corner. It’s a question of life and death, sooner than we expect. Innovation is not about creating new shinny products, we’ve already been here. It’s about doing the business differently, changing the habits of our customers, being disruptive. The old way of working doesn’t apply any more : writing specifications about things we don’t know doesn’t make sense, deciding what will be the next behavior of our customer is pointless when they don’t know themself. We need a process to help us to learn, to allow quick adaptation. Instead of optimizing the workload, we should optimize learning and business impact. Agile is just about that. In this session, we’ll see how agile fits the paradigm shift of innovation. We’ll embrace the world of uncertainty, see what it means to get out of the comfort zone where opportunities and how agile makes us act differently.

MySQL InnoDB Cluster provides a built-in High Availability solution for MySQL. It tightly integrates MySQL Server, Group Replication, MySQL Router and MySQL Shell providing an easy-to-use full stack solution for HA. MySQL Shell main goal is to provide a natural interface for all 'DevOps' tasks related to MySQL, by supporting scripting with development and administration APIs. To allow an easy and straightforward configuration and administration of InnoDB Clusters, the Shell provides a scriptable API - the AdminAPI. This API hides the complexity associated with configuring, provisioning and managing everything without sacrificing power, flexibility or security. Ian Yip has given this 'Do Security Like a Start-up or Get Fired' presentation twice. The first time was at AusCERT this year. The second was at the Banking, Finance and Technology Forum in Mumbai back in June. In his travels speaking with and consulting for organisations across the world, he has observed the good and bad things that organisations do when it comes to security. He won't dwell on the bad. Instead, he picked out 10 considerations that agile companies tend to focus on in dealing with IT security. Ian uses the term "agile" here purposely as it is appropriate when describing companies that are dealing with the current, external pressures: cloud, mobility, consumerisation of IT, etc. better than most. Many of the points highlighted should be Security101 for many security professionals. But in limiting the list of 10, Ian aims to focus on what is important in today's enterprise in being better placed to deal with the pressures organisations are facing. Serverless computing is one of the hottest trends in software second only to containers. But most serverless function platforms suffer from vendor lock-in and a poor developer experience. Ideally, companies should be able to run their functions on any cloud choosing the one that offers the best value with the knowledge that they could change providers if need be. Developers should be able to build and test on their laptops knowing that the functions platform they’re developing on locally is same platform that’s running in the cloud—not some approximation or emulation. The purpose of the recently announced Fn project is to respond to these needs and to deliver an open source Apache 2.0 licensed functions platform that can run anywhere: laptop, server, cloud. In this session we’ll introduce Fn, its polyglot function support, and its Docker-based architecture that allows it to run on any platform and with any scheduler including Kubernetes, Mesos, and Swarm.
