Project Title
• Design and Development of Mobile Platform for
Radar Remote Control and Monitoring with
Radar Display
Control,
Status,
Video
Data
4
Scope of Work
• Design, develop and fabricate a working solution
to enable the display and remote control and
monitoring of installed radars (vessels and fixed
high points)
• iOS and Android Apps with wireless connectivity
such as Bluetooth or Wifi
5
Background
• Antenna and antenna
control are usually at the
highest point (tower top,
roof top or mast top)
• Electronics are usually a few
meters below, inside an
equipment room or the
bridge
• Two or more engineers are
required to carry out
servicing, commissioning
and testing tasks

Benefits
• Reduction of engineers
– Reduced manpower costs
– Reduced time used to communicate
– Reduced risk due to lesser access to high points
• First low-cost mobile platform
– First to incorporate interface for various radar makes
and models
– Terma and Raytheon have indicated support in
development
– Sperry and KH servicing agents have indicated
technical support in testing
9
Benefits
• Competition
– Not seen yet (as in a mobile apps that can interface
to many radar makes and models)
10

Some Related Experiences
14
Partners
• Terma Singapore – provision of testing platforms
and interface protocols (approved)
• 3 Waves Energy – support in testing with
commercial radars (sailor)
• Gek Marine – support in testing with commercial
radars (KH, Sperry)
• Raytheon – provision of testing platforms and
interface protocols (to confirm)
15
Project Cost
• Projected cost – SGD191,500 (manpower,
equipment, consumables)
• Manpower – SGD120,000 (Manager, Software
Engineer and Hardware Engineer)
• Equipment – SGD31,500 (High Performance
Machine, Mobile devices, Electronic Charts)
• Consumables – SGD65,000 (Testing work at
Terma factory, courses and conferences)
16
Project Details
• Project duration – 8 months
17
Product Launch Plan
• Position – the mobile platform for radar remote
control and monitoring is not new but there is
still a huge market for one that can interface to
various radars by customization of interface
protocol
• Product – a generic solution that works with
various radars
• Pricing – USD20.00 per device on Apple Store
and GooglePlay for end user of Terma radars (for
the provision of support in the development)
18
Product Launch Plan
• Target Market – all radar makes and model, TBSS
will work with other makers such as Raytheon to
incorporate the interfaces with a fee, upon
completion, the end user license is USD20.00 per
device
19
Projection
• 1st year – 400 users (USD20.00), USD8000.00
• 2nd year – 1000 users (USD20.00), USD20,000.00
• 3rd year – 2500users (USD25.00), USD62,500.00
• 4th year – 5000 users (USD25.00),
USD125,000.00
• 5th year – 10000 users (USD30.00),
USD300,000.00
• Total – USD515,500.00 (SGD721,700.00)
20
Projection
• Support staff – USD30,000.00 per year,
USD150,000 (SGD210,000) for 5 years
• Project Profit (5 years) – SGD511,700.00
21
Summary
• TBSS is applying a fund of SGD90,850 to develop
a mobile platform for radar remote control and
monitoring with radar display
• TBSS aims to launch the product with a few
popular radars such as Terma, Raytheon, … to
enter the market
• Singaporean brand maritime-related/IT-related
product
