The event included dissemination of the outputs of two recent HEA-funded projects on teaching research methods in the social sciences. Delegates were also introduced to some new and existing quantitative datasets and resources and explore the potential for integrating these across the undergraduate curriculum.

This document describes a study that developed three online simulations using Second Life to enhance employability skills for psychology undergraduates: a supermarket scenario, a counselling agency scenario, and a Dragons Den entrepreneurial pitch scenario. Student satisfaction and learning outcomes were evaluated and compared between the online simulations and equivalent face-to-face activities. Results showed the online simulations were equivalent to face-to-face activities in terms of student satisfaction, learning, and attitudes, with the exception that students reported higher satisfaction with the supermarket simulation online compared to face-to-face. The researchers concluded online simulations may be a useful way to extend student learning outside the classroom.

This paper provides an overview of a HEA funded project on communicating quantitative methods. The project seeks to explain how psephology - the analysis of voting data, opinion polls and similar electoral statistical data – can be used to develop active learning pedagogies. It explores how psephology can be embedded into the British Politics curriculum to introduce learners to quantitative methods and show the relevance of these approaches. Ethical design of pedagogical research
Pedagogic research may require ethical review. This presentation identifies some of the ethical issues that may arise in pedagogic research and considers how to minimise them through research design. The specific processes /forms described in this presentation are directed at colleagues at the University of Ulster, however the underlying information is relevant to a wider audience.
CPRE Ethics Spotlight Report
The committee met to review and update recommendations for public relations ethics education from their 2018-2019 report. They discussed that while core topics like ethical decision-making and codes of ethics remain important, emerging priorities like DEI, global communication, CSR, and crisis communication need greater emphasis. The committee developed new recommendations for ethics curriculum, including giving greater priority to critical thinking, courage in addressing ethical issues, navigating misinformation in crises, ethical listening, DEI and social responsibility, and global ethics. Providing students with tools for ethical decision-making and the courage to speak up on ethical issues in their future careers was a key focus of their updated guidance.

This workshop aimed to encourage pedagogical reflection and debate on the teaching of quantitative methods to sociology/criminology undergraduates and provide delegates with opportunities for the sharing of best practice in this area. The event included dissemination of the outputs of two recent HEA-funded projects on teaching research methods in the social sciences. Delegates were also introduced to some new and existing quantitative datasets and resources and explore the potential for integrating these across the undergraduate curriculum.

This document describes a study that developed three online simulations using Second Life to enhance employability skills for psychology undergraduates: a supermarket scenario, a counselling agency scenario, and a Dragons Den entrepreneurial pitch scenario. Student satisfaction and learning outcomes were evaluated and compared between the online simulations and equivalent face-to-face activities. Results showed the online simulations were equivalent to face-to-face activities in terms of student satisfaction, learning, and attitudes, with the exception that students reported higher satisfaction with the supermarket simulation online compared to face-to-face. The researchers concluded online simulations may be a useful way to extend student learning outside the classroom.

This paper provides an overview of a HEA funded project on communicating quantitative methods. The project seeks to explain how psephology - the analysis of voting data, opinion polls and similar electoral statistical data – can be used to develop active learning pedagogies. The specific processes /forms described in this presentation are directed at colleagues at the University of Ulster, however the underlying information is relevant to a wider audience.
CPRE Ethics Spotlight Report
The committee met to review and update recommendations for public relations ethics education from their 2018-2019 report. They discussed that while core topics like ethical decision-making and codes of ethics remain important, emerging priorities like DEI, global communication, CSR, and crisis communication need greater emphasis. The committee developed new recommendations for ethics curriculum, including giving greater priority to critical thinking, courage in addressing ethical issues, navigating misinformation in crises, ethical listening, DEI and social responsibility, and global ethics. Providing students with tools for ethical decision-making and the courage to speak up on ethical issues in their future careers was a key focus of their updated guidance.

EDDD 8085/EDSD 7085: Inspired Leadership, Informed Advocacy, and Improved Policy
The overall project involves two parts: the advocacy action plan paper and a presentation. The paper is your Learning Outcomes Plan.
Advocacy is the act of standing up for others, of building connections, of engaging in everyday acts. These activities might occur in daily connections or on a grand stage and serve to support children, families, and professionals connected to the field. Leading through advocacy has the capacity to impact others in the present, and in a wonderful rippling effect, for many years to come.
In completing this plan you will:
Apply leadership and advocacy skills to implement and manage strategic change
Evaluate local and global policy and policy development related to specific issues in early childhood
Evaluate cultural influences on local and global policy in early childhood (especially through the lenses of stakeholders and collaborating organizations)
Demonstrate evidence-based decision making, integrating principles of equity, ethics, and social justice and advocacy
Include a minimum of 10 resources from peer-reviewed journals and six from advocacy organizations and/or recognized experts on the topic. All sources require APA-formatted citations at the end of the paper.
In Module 4 of this course, you will submit an advocacy action plan. The plan itself, due Day 1 of Week 11, requires that you select an advocacy topic you are passionate about and connect with an organization in planning the development of your plan.

This Dissertation explores the particular circumstances of Mirzapur, a region located in the
core of India. Mirzapur, with its varied terrains and abundant biodiversity, offers an optimal
environment for investigating the changes in vegetation cover dynamics. Our study utilizes
advanced technologies such as GIS (Geographic Information Systems) and Remote sensing to
analyze the transformations that have taken place over the course of a decade.
The complex relationship between human activities and the environment has been the focus
of extensive research and worry. As the global community grapples with swift urbanization,
population expansion, and economic progress, the effects on natural ecosystems are becoming
more evident. A crucial element of this impact is the alteration of vegetation cover, which plays a
significant role in maintaining the ecological equilibrium of our planet.Land serves as the foundation for all human activities and provides the necessary materials for
these activities. As the most crucial natural resource, its utilization by humans results in different
'Land uses,' which are determined by both human activities and the physical characteristics of the
land.
The utilization of land is impacted by human needs and environmental factors. In countries
like India, rapid population growth and the emphasis on extensive resource exploitation can lead
to significant land degradation, adversely affecting the region's land cover.
Therefore, human intervention has significantly influenced land use patterns over many
centuries, evolving its structure over time and space. In the present era, these changes have
accelerated due to factors such as agriculture and urbanization. Information regarding land use and
cover is essential for various planning and management tasks related to the Earth's surface,
providing crucial environmental data for scientific, resource management, policy purposes, and
diverse human activities.
Accurate understanding of land use and cover is imperative for the development planning
of any area. Consequently, a wide range of professionals, including earth system scientists, land
and water managers, and urban planners, are interested in obtaining data on land use and cover
changes, conversion trends, and other related patterns. The spatial dimensions of land use and
cover support policymakers and scientists in making well-informed decisions, as alterations in
these patterns indicate shifts in economic and social conditions. Monitoring such changes with the
