1989
TATOC is formed by
three timeshare owners
- Peter Purdon, John
Buchanan and Tony
Gorton - who meet at
the Rubens Hotel in
London.
1999
The first TATOC
conference takes place
– and the industry
starts to take notice as
the association sets out
its plans.
2001
Norma Hartshorn is
appointed Secretary
General – beginning
her long association
heading up TATOC.
2005
Norma moves to VOICE
and new Secretary
General Fredericka
Johns is appointed.
Philip Johnston
continues as TATOC
chairman.

TATOC provides
evidence to the House
of Lords on timeshare
legislation and works
with the European
Commission and
European Parliament.

Harry Taylor becomes
TATOC Secretary
General and a new era
for the association
begins. David Eastburn
is TATOC chairman.

TATOC consumer
helpline established
and operated by TATOC
directors working from
home.

TATOC implements a
new constitution,
strategy and image and
moves to dedicated
offices in central
Manchester.

TATOC recruits its first
permanent staff
member to manage the
TATOC consumer
helpline and new
European legislation
comes into effect.

TATOC launches
Sharetime magazine
written by timeshare
owners for timeshare
owners and the
mediation service
begins.
2009
TATOC membership
reaches over 80 resorts
across Europe.
Individual membership
programme is
launched.
2009
The TATOC resort
accreditation
programme is
announced with Club
Las Calas in Lanzarote
the first accredited
resort.

practice for re-sale

issued for our affiliates
and members.

The first ‘panel of
experts’ meets in
Manchester, chaired by
TATOC’s Harry Taylor to

facing the industry.

TATOC consumer
helpline issues the first
monthly cold callers
list. This is now issued
every month and is the
most visited page on
the TATOC website.
2011
TATOC launches its
code of conduct which
all TATOC affiliated
companies have now
signed up to. There are
now over 30 affiliates.

agreement with the

Owners Association in
