TASK 5 –
EVALUATION

Research Into Publishing.
■ My research helped me out a lot as I got a lot of information from websites such as sky
sports news and BBC sports as I wrote information into my article. I also looked at many
magazines such as world soccer and four-four-two and looked at the templates and
how they are laid out. It made me understand how the footer is placed and the fonts
along with texts and images. From looking at other digitally published magazines, I got
ideas about the written styles, and the way the page was set.
Evaluate the process of originating,
pitching and amending your ideas.
■ When I had to pitch my idea to my class, the pitch was not organised well, and I did not
have a clear idea about what I was going to say. From the pitch, I was asked many
questions and they gave me a few ideas. Firstly, my idea was to talk about how the
youth is inspired by football.Then the feedback that I got back, I was told to do a
review instead, but go to locations around East London and get photos, such as Upton
Park which is a stadium. I also got pictures of fans in kits, and youths playing football.
How successful was the drafting and re-
drafting of the written pieces?
■ For my article, I went on a few websites to get some information about the Barclays
Premier League season, and the latest news and stories. I had to change the wording
so I had to change the information a few times. I also interviewed a few football fans
about how they thought the season went. I had to re-draft so that I cleared all the
mistakes that I had written, and information and wasn’t needed or didn’t make sense.
The re-drafts were successful as it gave me a chance to correct incorrect grammar, and
put in punctuation.
Evaluate the pre-production portfolio.
■ My pre-production portfolio, helped me a lot as it helps me plan during the
preparation so that I knew how to do my magazine, and what I need to get to put in
my magazine. It helped me get the props I needed for my classmate, as I had to get a
picture of him in a football kit. It also gave me websites to gather information, that I
was able to include information.The pre-production made me very organised, as I was
able to store my photographs in a folder, that was very useful as I knew where to go
instead of searching for them in many folders which would be time consuming. It gave
me a good understanding of the resources I need to complete the magazine.
Evaluate your skills in image
manipulation.
■ I had two ideas at first, which were games and football. I used Photoshop to craft a
mood board of those two, which is a skill as I cut of the images and put them together.
I used InDesign for my final magazine as I was able to get the layout, and the text
wrap. I used Photoshop to cut out the image that I text wrapped.
How well did you store your written
material?
■ The information that I need that wrote, was all stored on a computer, and was in its
own folder. It was also put on my USB stick in case I lost it, but that never happened.
None of my written material was hand written, as the paper could have been damaged
and then the written material would’ve been gone, or I could’ve lost the paper if I
wrote it on paper. I also interview people which was stored by a voice recorder on my
phone, then wrote it on a word document.

I used InDesign for my final magazine as I was able to get the layout, and the text wrap. I used Photoshop to cut out the image that I text wrapped.
  • 7. How well did you store your written material? ■ The information that I need that wrote, was all stored on a computer, and was in its own folder. It was also put on my USB stick in case I lost it, but that never happened. None of my written material was hand written, as the paper could have been damaged and then the written material would’ve been gone, or I could’ve lost the paper if I wrote it on paper. I also interview people which was stored by a voice recorder on my phone, then wrote it on a word document.
